April 28, 200719 yr Hi,just installed my new nVidia 8800GTS 320/640. Seem to have a problem setting it up properly for FS2004. Trying various combos of settings and FS9 still looks crap - rough edges on acft, etc. Updated driver from nvidia site - same thing. Previously had ATi X850XT Pro 256/256 and it ran FS2004 to max with no problems (only in really congested a/ps with heavy traffic had some slowdown in frame rates).Anyone running on 8800GTS pls advise on optimal card settings for FS9. Apreciate it alot!Thnx!IL76MDP4 3.0, 2gb RAM,8 800GTS, 200Gb HDD,WinXP Pro, FS9 and FSX.
April 28, 200719 yr Read the forum. There art least six threads in the last few days that will help you. There is truly no reason whatsoever for this information to be posted, yet again.Allcott
April 28, 200719 yr You should be able to (nearly or completely) max out everything (including anti-aliasing at 16x), if you use drivers of the 158.* series like the 158.19 version. There is one thing that needs your special attention: enable and set all videocard settings in the Nvidia control panel, AND enable anti-aliasing in FS9. This is a new development, so please nota bene: set the stuff in Nvidia control panel, AND enable anti-aliasing in FS9.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.
April 28, 200719 yr Hi Alcott, you sort of beat me to it! I'm in a kind and pleasant mood today, so I posted my information again. Why? Beause there are lots of people here who don't believe me, even to the extend of refusing to try my advice out. Hopefully this poster gives it a go!Jaap.
April 28, 200719 yr IF everything you tried doesn't work. unstaill the latest driver and use the one prior version. And then, sett AA and AF to hardware X16 in the nVidea driver settings(don;t make these driver settings while you are in the sim). after you have made and saved the changes. Start FS2004.Now, try various settings in FS2004.,,and pick the best. if you still don't get it.. pase some screenshots here.8800GTS is amazing for FS2004. There is no reason why you should not experience the same. (I did have some issues in the beginning too...all because I didn't know what and when I needed to set something up)Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
April 29, 200719 yr Thanks all.I tried all the advise but there still is no improvement. Its like anything I do doesnt change the FS in anyway. Here is what I've tried:1. setting all max quality in card control panel, including AA 16x and AFx16, entered FS2004, enabled AA in FS2004. 2. Enabling everything max in the card and in FS20043. Enabling all in card and disabling in FS2004All of these make no difference whatsoever! Still have same rough edges around the acft like I'm running the worst possible card. One thing: when I'm in the card driver setting and FS not running, I have the spinning logo looking very smooth when max setting. If I go to the driver settings when FS is running, the logo is blurry, even at max quality setting.I presume the card assumes FS settings? Any way to override that?I have the 158.9 driver.
May 5, 200719 yr Hi all,I have formatted HD and reinstalled win XP, reinstalled drivers for 8800GTS and reinstalled FS9 afresh. Nothing changes....Maybe there is a patch for FS9?The graphics is excellent in FSX, so its not the issue with the card. But since I have all my addons in FS9 I'd really like to have this issue resolved. Pls advs.
May 5, 200719 yr Delete the default profile for FS9. Create a new one. Save it. Use it. Solved?Allcott
