Joystick calibration (z-axis throttle)

Featured Replies

Hi all,Recently I got a problem with my joystick (Wingman Attack 2), as I am not able to set idle thrust. If I slide the z-axis all the way down to zero, at first it will cause idle thrust. But a few seconds later, it moves a little bit up by itself, so that minimal thrust is applied, causing the aircraft to start moving forwards (the problem is relevant before and during taxiing), and forcing me to apply parking brake to prevent it from moving any further.I have tried to recalibrate my joystick to no avail. Is there some value in some config file, which I can alter, so that the null zone is increased just a little, and makes it necessary to use more thrust to make the aircraft move? All the best,NicolasFS9 / PMDG 737-700 NG + Des Braban's Boeing 737NG Sounds / Flight Line Wx500 / Radar Contact 4.2 / ActiveSky 6 / Ultimate Traffic 2004 /FS Navigator 4.7 / Active Camera 2004

You can manually edit the relevant calibration scale by hand in the fs9.cfg file usually found ounter Docs & SettingsYour_AccountAppliation SettingsMicrosoftFS9. Be cautious as there is usually one entry for standard, and one for slew and they are dificult to read becuase of the USB enumeration. BTW, I notice by your sig that you use the PMDG 737NG; if this issue is specific to this bird, you do know that that it is notorious for creeping at idle thrust, right? Look through the PMDG forums and you'll see it mentioned over and over again.Personally, I calibrate my devices using a registered copy of FSUIPC and then apply a slight slope to the Throttle curve so I have more (fine) control at low thrust than near max thrust.Good luck...

Thanks for your suggestions.I am aware that the 737NG also moves forwards by itself, but mine sometimes accellerates because of the added thrust.I will try out your ideas, and if it doesn't help, I will start looking for a new device. All the best,NicolasFS9 / PMDG 737-700 NG + Des Braban's Boeing 737NG Sounds / Flight Line Wx500 / Radar Contact 4.2 / ActiveSky 6 / Ultimate Traffic 2004 / FS Navigator 4.7 / Active Camera 2004
