June 20, 200718 yr HiIgnore the photo of the airbus on the right hand side and take a look at photo on the left. Now that is what my water looks like in FSX, is that right??? I have seen pictures of the water in FSX and it doesent look like that......my water looks like it did in FS9. Is it a graphic card issue becuase my graphics card is 4 years old and is a Nvidia FX5600 256mb card (with the latest Drivers).....do I need to get a new card to get the full water effects?http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c372/Tull_/water1.jpgApreciate your comments.RegardsPaul EGCC Regards Paul EGCC
June 20, 200718 yr Yes it is your card. I had the same results and card and upgraded to a 7600 512k for that reason (also had taxiway sign problems).http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
June 20, 200718 yr Author Thought it was the card. Just another question if ya can help me out here. I think my card is a VGA card and not a PCI....is that right? If it is I could only fit another VGA card, so can you reccomend another VGA card what would give me the water effects. I cant afford a new pc right now, will have to wait till next year. Would really appreciate some advice as I am a bit of a novice when it comes to Graphis cards. Many thanks.RegardsPaul EGCC Regards Paul EGCC
June 20, 200718 yr I guess you're thinking of AGP vs PCI-Express. Older motherboards only support AGP, but most cards nowadays are PCIX. You can still pick up some very decent AGP cards however- any Nvidia crads beginning with the number 7. for example 7600GT AGP.

Since your system is 4 years old, you probably have a motherboard with an AGP slot for the graphics card. The newer systems instead come with PCI-Express graphics cards. What you need (if you're keeping your current system) is a more powerful AGP card that can handle the additional shaders and special effects coded into FSX. The Nvidia 7 series is a good bet such as the GeForce 7800GS or the GeForce 7600, which are now both available in the AGP versions.http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2686http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Article...read&arc_id=116
June 20, 200718 yr Author Yes you are right , I am reffering to AGP, (dont know were I got VGA from)Thanks guys...will take a look at those and get something sorted out.RegardsPaul EGCC Regards Paul EGCC
June 20, 200718 yr PaulAs another alternative, I can recommend the X8 series and especially the X1900Pro cards from ATI, as an alternative to the nvidia cards. And both cards are available as AGP versions. I don't know what they cost over there, but here in Germany you can get one, with 512mb, for around
June 20, 200718 yr Author Thanks Grahame, I will have to price these cards up and see were I can get the best deal over here in the UK. I can get the Geforce 7800GS for approx Regards Paul EGCC
