July 2, 200718 yr can someone help, hardware8800 GTX video card with 768 meg memory2 gig of ram (OCZ Technology)interl core 2 duo, e6600 processorstriker extreme motherboardI had this machine custom made purely for fsx, and with high settings i get a frame rate of 2.9 - 3.5 wich is unplayable at all.even on top of water, low fps, i dont understand. no scenery on water.when I decrease setting autogen, traffic etc, still low fps, maybe 4.5 on chicago ohare it is 1.9FPS, still does not make senseI replace the motherboard, memory, video card twice already and no suck luck, microsoft support were not able to help me.anyone experience similar issues, I have sp1 installed too with my deluxe version as well as SDK
July 2, 200718 yr What are your PSU and Hard-drive specs so that we can have a complete picture of your hardware. Also what speed is your memory? (PC2-5400/6400/8000/8500 ???)On the face of it it seems to be severely under-performing. Does the video card have 2 power connectors and are they both connected? Can the PSU supply sufficient amps to the GPU?RegardsJim
July 2, 200718 yr While you are giving this information, can you please also list any other hardware you have connected, including joysticks etc. Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers? What version of video driver are you running.FYI, these problems usually come down to either a missing, or naughty, driver for one of your hardware items.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
July 3, 200718 yr My Memory is OCZ technology ddr2 pc2-8500 sli 1066 mhz, i have 2 gig of ramyes the video card has 2 power connector and they are connectedi have an extra heavy duty fan for the motherboard, striker extrememy power supply is 750 my hard drive is 500gbnvidia version 1.4.100.4 latest version and drivers are the latest including chipsetintel core 2 duo is 2.4ghzpc probe on asus gives me some warnings which is new about voltagebut this issue with fsx has been going on for 4 month with me, prior to this new warnings in pc probe, i dont even know how to fix themNBcore 1.52 vopt1 fanopt2 fanopt3 fan opt5 fan1.2V HTSB core 1.52also, in the bios i manually set the memory voltage to 2.1 and did the timing for the memory manually in the bios as well as set the slie to OCMAX per tech support. still no luck, I thought maybe the memory issuealso, I get PC ran out of available memory, please change graphics setting, traffic, etc in FSX and the program shuts down on me after runnig FSx for 40 minutes straight, this always comes up and fsx shuts down on me.i dont understand this, since I got a really really high score on dmark06 10,400 but yet all these issues in fsx, I ran 3dmark06 and my score was 10400, a very high score, high end machinei redownloaded and installed again the latest chipset from nvidia as well as the GE8800 graphics drivers. >What are your PSU and Hard-drive specs so that we can have a>complete picture of your hardware. July 3, 200718 yr Sounds like you have the stutters. In the Nvidia Control panel, manually set AA to 4X and AF to 8X. Then, make sure you delete or disable the Control Panel's FSX preset profile. If you don't, it'll undo your manual settings. Now, make sure the AA check-box in the FSX settings screen IS checked. Finally, reset all setting screens to "default." This will get you a good 'start here' slidebar start point. I had every component out for RMA right before I discovered this fix. Opps~

July 3, 200718 yr well, also in the nvidia control panel, i have set af 16x, everything to max and let my video card control fsx program for better performance and high quality, that did not help either, not even a slight improvement in frame rates. I let the nvidia control the application also, enhance the application etc, tried all those options as well.I ran automatic tune my system from the ntune (Nvidia) and it finished, no improvement there.Even with all max settings in fsx, i would be happy with a frame rate of 12 at least, but not 2-3 which is unplayable in most major airports chicago o'hare, etc.....My target frame rate I changed from unlimited to 20 and vice versa played around with those, no change.....I appreciate all your help and support, I am running windows xp professional by the way, not vista, I had major issues when i installed vista OS.Hope to hear more of your suggestions
July 3, 200718 yr It just may be your Memory.I took delivery of a system based on the ASUS P5N32-E (same 680i chipset)and it ran like a slug. When I checked the components I discovered that they had used different RAM to what I had specified..although it was OCZ they used 'Special Ops Edition' which had a different latency and was not on the ASUS 'Qualified Vendors List' Swapped over the RAM to some other OCZ which was on the QVL and it ran like an express train. If you check out the QVL for the Striker Extreme ..OCZ are not on ithttp://www.asus.com/999/download/products/1439/1439_10.pdfHave you updated the BIOS? as I believe updated BIOS may have gone someway to relieving some Memory compatability issues. So it may not be necessary to change your Memory.RegardsJim
July 3, 200718 yr I did check it and called ocz, the reason it is not on QVL is because Asus has not posted it yet on their site. They told me the memory is compatible with striker extreme and the P5n32-E motherboard.I had the p5n32-E motherboard then switched to striker extreme
July 3, 200718 yr >Run this, what do you get? >>http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1297I ran the 3DMark06 and I got a score of 10,400 which is pretty high.I just dont get it.
July 4, 200718 yr >They told me the memory is compatible with striker extreme and the P5n32-E motherboard.Who is 'They'? OCZ or ASUS?Also what BIOS version do you have installed? Preferably you should have the 1102 version.Quote from Xbitslab.com review:Here I would like to remind you of the sticker on the mainboard package saying that the mainboard is guaranteed to work only with the memory modules from the Qualified Vendor List available on ASUS website. And this sticker is not there for nothing. ASUS Striker Extreme really has some compatibility issues with certain memory modules, which you may have read about on the forums. However, I have to give credit to ASUS engineers: they are eliminating these issues little by little in the new BIOS versions.Sorry to keep 'banging on' but having been there ..uninstalling & re-installing software I am fully sympathetic to your situation..especially after spending all that money on a top-end system. Please don't take it as a criticism.. I'm sure you've tried everything on both the hardware and software fronts.Final piece of advice...update the bios, format the hard-drive or use a new one and do a FULL re-install of Windows and latest chipset drivers. If it still playing up..try some memory from the QVL..it worked for me.RegardsJim
July 5, 200718 yr Yeah that seems like bad RAM or voltage settings, yet you say other 3d games run finehmm...tried taking out a stick of RAM and running with 1GB?Defragged that massive HDD at all? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
