Since my current Asus A8V Deluxe mb refuses to function stable with any SATAII disk I wan't to replace my mb. But selecting one is very difficult. Reason I can't be certain that it will work with my components. That's my first priority that my new system should be fully stable which isn't the case now.I intend to use it with the following components I already have, twoWESTERN DIGITAL RE 160GB SATA/300 16MB WD1600YS in raid 0One 60 Gb Maxtor IDE driveOne Sony CD and one LG CD/DVD comboAudigo Player Soundcard550 W PSU in a ATX chassi.PCI card with extra USB 2 portsI intend to buy apart from the mbGraphics card (preliminary choice BFG GEFORCE 7950GT 512MB OC DVI HDTV PCI-E)2 Gb RAM (preliminary choice CORSAIR 2GB DDR2 PC6400 XMS2 XTREME (2X1GB)heatsink)AMD or Intel CPUThe reseller says they can't guarantee compatibility. I find no mb where all my components are listed among the tested and ok components for the mb. So which mb to buy?

Hi,This is a problem for me as well. I usually pick a handfull of mobos that seems to satisfy my needs, and then I search the supportforums and scan what problems each mobo seems to have and make sure that this is not a major problem for me. I also visit hardware forums, such as Tom's Hardware, and check out any tests/reviews.If you're looking for an error free mobo/BIOS/chipsetdriver solution, I guess your'e gonna have a very hard time to find it, if any exists. So I do a lot of reading before a purchase. That's the best guarantee I can get myself.Ulf B :-)

Mobo's are lust like women: they are all different and each has their own quirks, some of which don't surface until well into the relationship. You can either spend your life looking for the perfect one (which you will never find), or just pick one out that has the least reported problem set and hang on for the ride! :-lolGaru
