COMPILING an XML file to a BGL file

Featured Replies

How do you an XML file to a BGL file? Thanks.Abe

For either FS2004 or FSX, you use bglcomp, which comes with the SDK. The file is bglcomp.exe and it runs off the command line. You will want to open a DOS box (STart-->Run...-->cmd) so that you can see the error messages, if any. There are other types of xml files, but I ASSUME you are talking about an xml file with airport scenery information.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Thanks Rhett.Actually I am trying to recompile an AFCAD file which I decompiled and modified in XML format. I tried the SDK Bglcom, it did not work. I did use the DOS prompt command. Can such an XML file be compile with BGLcom or some other compiler? Thanks.Abe

No the only compiler for those types of xml files is Microsoft's bglcomp. You must have some errors in your xml file that are preventing it from compiling. I don't know what error message(s) you got, but it's pretty common to have some errors when you are first trying to compile. You can post your xml here if you want, maybe I or someone else can assist.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Thanks Rhett. I could not upload the file, it's 825KB - too large.Abe

You decompiled an AFCAD, and it's 825 kb? That seems wrong to me, I have decompiled big, massive AFCAD airport bgl's and they were no where near 800 kb.Did you use BGL2XML to decompile the AF2_xxxx.bgl file?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian
