PC 2007 Wizard

I brought up my processor with the above PC Wizard and cannot figure out what it is telling me. My specs are: 6600 conroe core duo @2.4mhz, ati radeon x1600/1650, 4gig of DDR2-800 ram and 250gig Hitachi HD..The Wizard is telling me the following about my processor:Frequency: 2400MHz - (Current 1601.35MHz)Is this telling me that I'm only running FS9 at 1.6 Mhz and not the full potential of the processor which is 2.4MHz?Regards,jack

no, Intel finally made stepping available, this means that your processor "steps down" when there is nothing to do, resulting in less heat and less power consumption, also resulting in less noice from the cooling fans etc.Of course it works also in the opposite direction : when you are playing a game, your processor is working at it's full potential (in your case 2.4 GHz).Keep the wizard running and look at it while flying (switch to windowed mode).Jan

Many thanks. I did not know that. I'll try your suggestion.Jack

Jack,There is a bios setting on the Abit motherboard for this, if your using one, check this setting. You may want to leave it alone as it will only use the full potential of your CPU when needed.C1E Enabled > Disabled

Thanks Tony. I overlooked the details in my 1st posting and did not include my motherboard spec's. I've got an Asus P5B-E. Sorry about that and thanks for the insight anyway.Regards, jack
