December 18, 200718 yr After using Raid-0 for the past few years, I've decided that these WD Raptors are fast enough without the Raid-0. After undoing the raid-0 on my Asus P5B-D I continued to use the SATA drives (un-raided) using "Raid" setting in the BIOS setup. The Raptors obviously show up as unused Raid drives in the Intel Matrix Storage utility and seem to boot and work fine as is.The question is, should I now choose "AHCI" for these drives in the BIOS instead? Are the drives then configured normally under the Windows Device Manager instead of the Intel Matix utility? Thanks for any advice as I am unfamiliar with AHCI... Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE

December 19, 200718 yr Author Ah, very good. I often forget about wiki and it is truely a nice resource. Now I see that AHCI support is already activated when enabling the Raid function within my BIOS. So even though I'm only running a "Raid Ready" system, I should be getting the full functionality of AHCI. Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
