Monitor resolution FS aspects

Featured Replies

My monitor is a Viewsonic 19" wide with a native resolution of 1440x900. Question: Should I set in FS9 or FSX at this resoulion, is that right? any comments about FS video resolution are wellcome. My videocard is a GForce 7900GT and my system is core2 6600 (2.4ghz)with 2GB. Thanks in advance. Waldemar.

Yes, set your FS resolution to your Monitor Native Resolution.RegardsJim

If you are upgrading from a "square" monitor to a widescreen monitor, you may find your panels stretched and round gauges now ovals..The virtual cockpit is your friend since that view adapts to the new resolution. If you do not mind editing panel.cfg files, you can improve at least anything that is displayed in a window, like the mini-panel for example.FSX C172{Window05} // square bracketsposition=7size_mm=631,100child_3d=1background_color=0,0,0window_size= 0.xxxx, 0.yyyy // this is newno_luminous=1ident=MINIPANELgauge00=Cessna172!Airspeed, 0, 1gauge01=Cessna!Turn_Indicator, 102, 0gauge02=CessnaWAlpha!Attitude_Alpha, 207, 0gauge03=Cessna!Heading_Indicator, 312, 0gauge04=Cessna!Altimeter, 417, 0gauge05=Cessna!Vertical_Speed, 531, 0You can either do some math or trial and error...Window_size is a fraction of the total screen.Original size 631 : 100 on a standard screen of 1024 : 768 (4 by 3 ratio)631/1024 = 0.6162100/768 = 0.1302If your resolution is 1440 : 900 which is a 16 by 10 ratio, you need to reduce the width by 1.2 to compensate.window_size= 0.5135, 0.1302 should make the gauges round again.
