January 10, 200818 yr Hi!everyoneMy system specification is ASUS P5K motherboardIntel core 2 Dou E6850 @ 3.00GhzVisiontek ATI 3870 512 MB GDDR4Kingston 3GB RAM (4.00GB actually but window could not detect)500Gb Western Digital Sata II 16MBWindow Vista 32bitBut when i run FSX with high performance my FSP is also between 6-12????Is anything wrong with my computer? (Good Driver)
January 10, 200818 yr You have good specs. Are you using SP1? It will spread out the duties of the FSX Graphics/Terrain engine over both the cores, which should give you better performance. Also, with that video card, don't push Anti-Aliasing or Anisotropic Filtering too high. If you have SP2, then DX10 Preview could be affecting performance, try with it off.Do you have sliders all maxed? No system today can run all sliders fully maxed, with the exception of a couple of super super clocked computers, which brings me to:Are you planning on overclocking? It can make a big difference.Regards,BoeingGuy Regards, BoeingGuy ASUS P5E X38 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz on 1600 MHz FSB (400x8) | 4 GB DDR2-800 RAM | EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked @ 679/979 | 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 RPM HD
January 10, 200818 yr But the only thing is even i maximize my scenery still has above 10 and less than 20 FPS???? I did not know he problem was!!Is this my graphic card slow??? because someone use the different than mine (less fast)but they still get the high performance.???
January 10, 200818 yr Try deleting the FSX.CFG file. The file will rebuild when you restart the sim. It can do wonders.
January 10, 200818 yr I would expect your system to get at least 30fps with default settings and the Cessna 172 sitting on the runway at a busy airport with medium-high settings across the board.- Delete fsx.cfg (as suggested earlier)- Make sure drivers are updated- Play with settings (medium-high should be fine, water maybe 2.x Low, traffic 30%)- Check different resolutions- Set AA/AF on the driver to enhance FSX settings- Defrag (not a huge performance booster, but might help)- Get a freeware benchmark (SiSoft Sandra, Vista Ultimate benchmark, etc.) and compare your benchmark to similar systems to ensure that FSX is the problem, not the OS or DirectX.Good luck!!Pat
January 10, 200818 yr The FSX CFG is not in the FSX folder. It is in hidden folders. January 11, 200818 yr I felt disappoint of buying this ATI 3870!!! My performance at default only <20 fps (without cockpit), I upgraded it because i want a better performance!!! but this really bad card!! even my Geforce 6600 (128MB,DDR3)at default has < 15fps
January 11, 200818 yr Welcome to FSX...I upgraded from Radeon 1900XTX 512mb to HD2900XT 512mb and not much improvements, maybe 3-4 FPS moreThen I changed from Core2 Duo 6600 to QuadCore 6600 and from 2 to 4GB Corsair (800), so I got good improvements, 6-8 FPS more.I could see that FSX uses a lot of processor and memory.Flying with thirty party airplanes, add-on scenery and Active Sky and when there are some thunderstorm around, my FPS goes to 5 or 8 FPS... very slow...Try installing Need For Speed Carbon or Pro Street, so you'll be happy with your system. RegardsBruno
January 11, 200818 yr Sorry, but a bare statement of your framerates is completely meaningless. For example, 6 to 12 FPS would be exceptionally high, if you're using the DX9 settings parked at a gate in EGLL in a PMDG 747X with the Heathrow 2008X scenery and the MyTraffic X traffic installed, with all the sliders to the right including with traffic set to 100% and with the "Light Bloom" turned on.On the other hand, if you're in a stock Learjet at 20,000 over a desert with clear blue skies and with all the sliders "in the middle", and you're still only getting 6-12 fps, then something's gone seriously wrong with your setup.I greatly doubt whether there's anything the matter with your card. I have a 3870 on my secondary computer and an EVGA 8800 Ultra super-overclocked on the main one. The computers themselves have, materially, very similar specifications. The Ultra does, of course, do better than the 3870. But it is not light-years ahead. You might find you get peace of mind by having a go with some of the benchmark tools that have been publicised on this website. The bottom line is that framerates take a big hit from high levels of detail and autogen in built up areas, and from AI traffic. But taking a less aggressive approach to the sliders can usually deliver an acceptable compromise even in these situations. Besides, the overall "smoothness" of the experience can be acceptable in FSX even at relatively low framerates. There are some "tweaks", but frankly they only tend to deliver pretty marginal improvements. They can also be quite time-consuming. So I suggest that as a first step, you begin by simply turning down your settings and turning off the framerate counter, and seeing if you have more fun that way.Tim 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. January 11, 200818 yr Bloom and 2x water all require your system to render the entire scene an additional time per displayed frame. I think terrain shadows do too, but I can't remember at the moment. They are huge fps killers and can literaly half your fps on some systems. Here's Phil's post on the cost of water,http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/archive/2007...-fps-costs.aspx
