I am using O&O for my computer defrag and have set it up to defrag based on Name as recommended in these forums.My question is on the MFT. I see it is a continuous block (which is good)and its located approximately in the middle of the drive by default. My question is this...can it be moved and should it be moved or is it best to just leave it alone and keep it defragged through the offline defrag feature.thanks,Mark.

Best to leave it as is...The MFT being located in the middle of the drive is a good thing. This ensures that as you fill the drive up, the data located on the edges of the drive (both the fast outside area, and the slow inside area) are equally distant from the MFT. This cuts the distance the read/write head has to travel to get to the MFT if and when reading information from the edges. Just let her be and you'll be all set. -Greg
