February 22, 200818 yr I know RAM overclocking isn't really necessary. Anyways, I got my RAM running at DDR2-961 MHz. How do I know I've reached the RAM limit, and what is the most efficient/effective DDR2 speed for me?Thanks,BoeingGuy Regards, BoeingGuy ASUS P5E X38 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz on 1600 MHz FSB (400x8) | 4 GB DDR2-800 RAM | EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked @ 679/979 | 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 RPM HD
February 22, 200818 yr I don't know enough about Intel Quads or DDR2 to be able to answer the second question but the best way to tell if the RAM settings are stable is to use Memtest86 (google it) - this is best run from a bootable floppy (perhaps it's possible from a flash drive) for a few hours when you think you have reached the RAM settingst you want to keep. It will run a set of tests and report if there are errors...Geoff
February 22, 200818 yr Run my benchmark (FSXMark07, downloadable here at AVSIM) and see whether there is any difference with DDR2 speed. Most likely, the higher RAM speeds result in lower RAM settings, which negates FS performance. February 23, 200818 yr Author I found the RAM timings stayed the same, but I have yet to see what difference it makes in FSX.Thanks,BoeingGuy Regards, BoeingGuy ASUS P5E X38 | Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz on 1600 MHz FSB (400x8) | 4 GB DDR2-800 RAM | EVGA GeForce 8800 GT Superclocked @ 679/979 | 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 RPM HD
