March 5, 200818 yr Hi all,A couple of days ago I installed an 8800GT card on my system, along with the 169.21 drivers (I'm running WinXP SP2). As far as gaming goes, everything seems to be fine...actually stunning in IL2:1946! However, when I try to play a DVD the image quality sucks. It's like the DVD is not playing properly, it's hard to explain, but the images look "chunky", for lack of a better descriptor. Things do not flow smooth across the screens...lots of blockiness.I didn't have this problem with my previous card, a 7600GS. Also now when I try to play some DVD's, I get an error message stating "the application failed to start because wnaspi32.dll was not found". I never had that before, and what's really weird, is that I'm getting that on both of my computers now.If anyone has suggestions, I'll be more than happy to hear them!Regards,ScottKJMS (or thereabouts) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
March 6, 200818 yr Hi ScottI upgraded from a 7900gs to a 8800gt without problems( in Vista yet). You've probably tried these things already, but what the heck. Delete the DVD drive drivers and restart. Make sure old video drivers are gone. I think wnaspi32.dll is a Nero thing. You might reinstall Nero. I'm no expert, but since no one else has jumped in...Bob Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
March 6, 200818 yr Author Hi Bob,Thanks for the reply. I contacted the folks who built my computer (Magic Micro) and they are sending me a new Nero disc. When I try to use that software it says that the license has expired.I did install new codecs, but that didn't seem to help. I don't think the new disc will help, either. Both Windows Media Player and RealPlayer would play a DVD before the new install. I have updated them both and still the same problem. What is interesting is that the card will play stored (on the HD) videos flawlessly. It might very well be a DVD driver problem. I'll try the new Nero CD when I get it, and if that doesn't resolve things, contact Magic Micro and see if it might be a DVD driver problem. Thanks for your help!Regards,ScottKJMS (or thereabouts) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
