KostaAs I understand it, one of the shortcomings(?) of XP was that it automatically set up users as Administrators. If someone hacked into your computer, they had access to everything. Enter Vista where your primary account was a normal user account. If someone hacked into your account, your data was safe. They couldn't change anything. But, as we found out, we couldn't change anything in FS either. While UAC may protect our data, It does nothing to protect us from viruses. Why, because a virus doesn't usually go for data. It goes for the registry, or the boot system, or Windows files. Folks who know little about how to take care of their computers need UAC. Others do not.I,too, hate AV software. I would like to see those who push viruses on us hung up by their toe nails.

If you use your computer for FS and light web surfing, then MSSE is fine. But if you have to do any real web work, it doesn't seem to work very well. You don't have to go to questionable sites to catch something. I got something once on a site looking for ukulelee parts, for crying out loud. Plus I've seen MSSE say it got rid of something, and on rescan it is still there.Consider the free AVAST. The new version has a rootkit scanner. Most free AV do not have this feature. Many of the newer viruses go for the boot files now.

I would like to think that we were above a bar room mentality where what I did (or said) was OK because, after all, "the other guy started it." There is a civil way do deal with folks, and not. In the end, would I want to be remembered as a level headed Joe, or some hot head, who cared only about himself? I am neither. I can't control anyone else. I can't change their minds. Or make them see the error of their ways, try as I might. Hopefully, I might be able to control myself.

Very sorry Mitch. I have always gotten much from your thoughts. Not having seen the post in question, I can't judge if it was bad enough or not. It is difficult for me to get worked up over a computer game. If other folks wish to do so, that's fine.

Agreed. I noticed the things I pointed out because I fly without any scenery add ons. Oh, I've added a few of my own airports, a couple of free planes and a really stupid looking flying crayon thing that I made, but that's about it. Yes, I can't add even those simple things to Flight, but It doesn't really bother me.

Well, I loaded it onto my laptop, which doesn't have shader at all. The sim is a slide show,even at low settings. FSX runs OK at medium settings. So I guess I'll have to put it on my real computer.

I don't think "freedom of speech" means the right to say anything you want. I think it means you have the right to carefully think about your viewpoint and express it in an intelligent manner. I like a good debate, but you can tell when someone is frothing at the mouth in their reply and letting emotion rule. I want someone's well thought out ideas, not froth. Bad weather here in Denver today. Perhaps all the pilots went home.I think we need more information. Did you add or remove anything lately? Are your traffic BGLs still in Scenery/World/scenery? Some add on traffic software will rename your default file.An FS9 traffic file will delete traffic where you spawn, but FSX traffic will come from outside your area if you wait long enough.

I know,I know. I'm on a W7 laptop now, but my sim computer is my Vista desktop. Works great. I also do some heavy duty video editing and music composition on it.The rest of the family uses Firefox. I use it on my Linux machine but that's the only time. Just haven't had all the trouble with IE that others have. No speed or security issues.

I handbuilt the guitar I play. Lots of fun. I find playing very relaxing. FSX isn't quite as relaxing, but still fun. No matter what else I do, My guitar is always waiting.

That's because an FS9 file will take out any FSX traffic that would have spawned (along with you) in your traffic area ( a few hundred square miles, I think). There is no AI outside of your area, anyway. It appears at the edge of the traffic area and flies into your airport.Glad you got it going.

Some more to think about.Are you using all WOAI planes, or are there still some default planes?I would go back to the default KLAX. That way you know there are no problems with the airport. I know you said you tried the default, but you need some constants. Use the default because some of the most common reasons for planes dissappearing are; no available parking(What? No parking at an empty airport? If a SW 737 lands and all small gate parking is marked for other airlines, and the same for bigger parking, The plane may vanish), or no way to get to parking from a particular runway(some runways may work, others not). A break in the taxiway might do this. No hold short can also cause problems. No runway taxiway line. An unaltered, default KLAX will fix all these problems.I know you have searched AFCADs for traffic files, but a rouge file could be anywhere in FSX or in any file on your computer that FSX uses. It doesn't have to be a file for KLAX. It might be something for Southern California, or an addon for certain smaller airports.

How old a laptop are we talking about here. I have two old XP laptops that have no problem with WPA. One is a Dell and the other is a Compaq.

As you know, FS does not generate AI all over the world at once, but rather in the traffic area you are in. I forget how big these areas are. An FS9 FP will take out AI traffic in the area it is written for and you spawn in. There will be traffic elsewhere. And traffic from outside your area will fly into your area as scheduled. I don't know if this is the case for you.

Sounds like you may have accidently added a FS9 type traffic ( or AFCAD that has traffic) file to KLAX or the KLAX area. In that case, if you spawn anywhere in the KLAX traffic area, you will see no FSX traffic. If that is the case, wait about 15 minutes or so and FSX traffic will start to show. If that happens, then you need to search your FSX folder for the file in question.Or there is some other problem.

Just to clarify, Intel HD graphics card has no AA settings. That's why there are jaggies.Bob

Well, we may need more to go on. We can only guess based on the info you have provided.Plus, first you say all AI has a problem. Then you say default AI does not. Which is it?If default AI is fine, then my first guess was correct. My next guess is that it is only certain AI and that they may have done this all along but you just now noticed it.Are the planes that are doing this made for AI, or are they user planes that you like and want them as AI? My next guess would be that the latter is true. Many user planes make bad AI.

I would try deactivating anything you added just before the problem started to see if the problem goes away. I don't think it has anything to do with water. It is possible for a scenery addon to mess something up that is far away. Sometimes an AI addon can do this.

A few questions.Is this all AI?When did this start?My guess is that default AI do not do this(if you have any).Have you added scenery for KJFK?

I guess you experience is just different from mine. On home networks I set up, computers that have a different workgroup name can't share information.

Don't forget, all computers must have the same Workgroup name.
