November 26, 201114 yr Hi,I am at wits end. Here are my specs:Win7 64 bit fully patched - FSX SP2 - UAC is off and I have Admin privilegesp8z68-vPro (latest chipset drivers - 902 bios) - i7 2600k - GTX 570usb wireless - Att&T RG for U-VerseI have 2 other computers on the network. One is win 7 64 bit, and the other a laptop with Win 7 32 bit. These 2 computers can share to each other, but cannot access anything on my FSX computer.I started with standard sharing (No Homegroup), setting my folders to share with "Everybody". Also tried a mapped drive but no go on that. The FSX computer is visible on the network, but when I click a shared folder, it presents the login and password dialog. Doesn't matter what you type in, it fails. Checked all services, and everything is running that should be for the network as far as I can tell. Here is what I tried:1. Swapped usb wireless devices from the FSX computer to the other desktop - No joy.2. Created a homegroup - rebooted etc. Ticked all advanced sharing options: Network discovery - ON File and Printer Sharing - ON Read and Write for everyone to Public Folders 128bit encryption - ON Password Protected Sharing - OFF Allow Windows to manage homegroup connections - ONI chose all 5 options of public folders to share. These default icons which represent each folder show in the network but when I click the shared public folder from any other computer on the network I get the hourglass, but nothing happens. Hourglass then goes away with no error or message.I disabled firewalls on all 3 computers. Also uninstalled Norton Antivirus on one of the computers. Still had the same behavior. There was one time when I clicked one of the shared folders from my other win 7 64 bit computer and the contents of the folder did show. I then went to another folder and it did not show. I went back to the previous folder and it was not working. Geez, I am beginning to think I have a hardware failure on the MB maybe. I did get to the RG and even created a rule which stated "Let anyone in". That did not work either.Any help or hints as to what to try I would be very grateful. Of course I cannot run any client software to support FSX.RegardsBob Officially retired

December 9, 201114 yr Don't forget, all computers must have the same Workgroup name. Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
December 9, 201114 yr I guess you experience is just different from mine. On home networks I set up, computers that have a different workgroup name can't share information. Bob i5, 16 GB ram, GTX 960, FS on SSD, Windows 10 64 bit, home built works anyway.
December 9, 201114 yr Moderator That usually causes most problems! My network has grown over the years from the original Win98 machines until the now au courant Win7x64 machines. The original "Workgroup" name of @HOME has never changed...Everytime I add a new machine to the network, the very first action I take is to reset the "Workgroup" to @HOME. as it is far easier to change one machine than it would be to change the other dozen or so machines already happily coexisting on the @HOME Workgroup... :) Fr.
