I have tried 4 different a/p afcads including the default.I have tons of AI everywhere else and I see an AI plane in the skies over KLAX very rarely.I,ve pretty much tried everything I can think of and still no luck...Any and all ideas welcome..Thanks in advance...Lou

I think you need to have flight plans to/from KLAX and that should be in the traffic.bgl you are using for AI traffic.Best regards,Jim

Sounds like you may have accidently added a FS9 type traffic ( or AFCAD that has traffic) file to KLAX or the KLAX area. In that case, if you spawn anywhere in the KLAX traffic area, you will see no FSX traffic. If that is the case, wait about 15 minutes or so and FSX traffic will start to show. If that happens, then you need to search your FSX folder for the file in question.Or there is some other problem.

Hi,Keep an eye on one flight going to KLAX, i.e. monitor a Delta flight that should leave for KLAX. Go to the departure airport and watch the plane leave. Is it really leaving or will it disappear as soon as take off clearance is given after holding short at the runway?In case of the latter the destination airport is not known by FSX and the flight is removed. In that case, for some reason, KLAX is probalby not in the airport list of FSX or AIFP anymore, hence no flights will begin or end there.Menno

As you know, FS does not generate AI all over the world at once, but rather in the traffic area you are in. I forget how big these areas are. An FS9 FP will take out AI traffic in the area it is written for and you spawn in. There will be traffic elsewhere. And traffic from outside your area will fly into your area as scheduled. I don't know if this is the case for you.

If you are using FS9 traffic models and have shadows enabled you will not see them at select airports (such as FSDT KLAX). It has something to do with the custom ground poly they use (as with some other develpoers). The only fix is to disable shadows on the airplanes or use native FSX AI modles

Thanks,Al and Menno for your imput,also....Guys,alittle more info.I have just spent 4 1/2 hours at KLAX on the ground and here,s what I,ve seen..I,ve tried the three freeware KLAX afcads from here in the library,all shadows off,all seasons,times of day and all locations on the a/p(parking,cargo,ramps,gates,etc.).At one time(dusk) I acually saw a Southwest,American Airline and a Mexicana aircraft land.The SW and the AA a/c came to a stop on the runway and disappeared.The Mexicana taxied off the runway,stopped on the taxiway and disappeared.I really enjoy challenges but I,m all out of ideas...Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and I,m still open for more...LouEdit: I continued to sit at KLAX and in the middle of the night,2 a/c landed and taxied to gates,so I,m scratching my head and giving up!!..Thanks for all the suggestions,guys..Lou

Some more to think about.Are you using all WOAI planes, or are there still some default planes?I would go back to the default KLAX. That way you know there are no problems with the airport. I know you said you tried the default, but you need some constants. Use the default because some of the most common reasons for planes dissappearing are; no available parking(What? No parking at an empty airport? If a SW 737 lands and all small gate parking is marked for other airlines, and the same for bigger parking, The plane may vanish), or no way to get to parking from a particular runway(some runways may work, others not). A break in the taxiway might do this. No hold short can also cause problems. No runway taxiway line. An unaltered, default KLAX will fix all these problems.I know you have searched AFCADs for traffic files, but a rouge file could be anywhere in FSX or in any file on your computer that FSX uses. It doesn't have to be a file for KLAX. It might be something for Southern California, or an addon for certain smaller airports.

Lou, the aircraft disappearing after they have landed and slowed down indicates that the AFCAD installed is not used by FSX. It can probably not find it/read it. Hence no aircraft are parked either. Just to be sure, the KLAX AFCAD should be placed in the Scenery subdirectory of the Addon Scenery directory in FSX. Make sure you install a .bgl file.Like Bob said return to the default AFCAD. If you are not sure you still have one, install or use Airport Desing Editor (you can find a copy in the AVSIM library). It also allows for opening stock AFCADs so then you know for sure you have a stock AFCAD installed.Once you are back to the initial situation you should be seeing AI again.Menno

Bob and Menno,you guys got me thinking again...I stated that I had searched all the afcads for any traffic files,but I was only manually looking at afcads in or around Calf...Then it hit me (duh) to use AIFP and,sure enough,I had more than one fs9 traffic files in some scenery folders(not Calf.)..I converted them to FSX format and now have AI at KLAX..Now,I,m stumped and confused...I thought FSX would only use fs9 traffic files if you mixed fs9 and FSX traffic files.I say this because when I started using WOAI,I lost the default traffic and used Reggie Fields traffic files to re-store the default AI.So while I now have traffic at KLAX again,I,m confused as to why it only affected KLAX and had FSX traffic everywhere else...But I,m happy and thanks to all the imput/suggestions from all of you...Lou Edit: Hey,Dean..Re-read this thread and wanted to respond to your post...Yes,I have been using AIFP for some time and had converted the all files(I thought)...Thanks for the post..Lou

That's because an FS9 file will take out any FSX traffic that would have spawned (along with you) in your traffic area ( a few hundred square miles, I think). There is no AI outside of your area, anyway. It appears at the edge of the traffic area and flies into your airport.Glad you got it going.

I handbuilt the guitar I play. Lots of fun. I find playing very relaxing. FSX isn't quite as relaxing, but still fun. No matter what else I do, My guitar is always waiting.
