March 10, 200818 yr Simple answer = yes!Having said that, in most cases on my screen running at 1920x1200 I don't find the distortion too irritating on the main panels - overheads etc are different and I usually drag these in a little...Geoff
March 10, 200818 yr Author Geoff,Thanks for the quick reply and answer.Just looked up your monitor...... That must be a truly outstanding display. I am also looking at a 24 inch widescreen that supports 1920x1200 but not quite the fine monitor that you have.... Would you suggest the 24 at the higher resolution for a better Flight Simulation experience......Thanks, JayDub
March 10, 200818 yr Hi JayDub,Thanks, it's certainly a nice screen - I got it from an ex-rental sale with a big discount because of three dead pixels which are really quite hard to spot.I think (from my experience so far) you should get the biggest screen you can afford and once you go beyond ~22 inch it basically will be widescreen... Basically with modern graphics cards the higher resolutions are not a problem (and I'm still on AGP!) :)Geoff
March 10, 200818 yr JayDub- You didn't say if you are displaying multiple views with FS.Since I'm hooked on triple views/triple mons- here's my suggestion.Keep the 22 CRT and add the two new LCDs on either side. Then set up views LFwd,Fwd,RFwd for a fabulous 180
March 10, 200818 yr Author Alex,Yes, I use multiple Flight Simulator views with my CRTs.I like the way you think...... Sounds like a great setup and a good idea.... Performance and visuals in Flight Simulator 2004 have always been my top priority when it comes to my computer. However, now thinking of more along the lines of other entertainment available that a large widescreen would enhance. I am looking into installing a Blu Ray HD DVD player in the system and the HD capability of a large display would be required to make it worth while. Also my Viewsonic 22 Professional Series CRT is a
March 10, 200818 yr JayDub- not sure what your comment implies- "rather expensive unit required for a triple screen setup" . All I have are ancient GeForce FX 5200 GPUs- an AGP Dual Head and single PCI - running on my "Smithsonian" class AMD 1.8 XP2200 sys !Alex Reid
March 10, 200818 yr Author Alex,Sorry friend, Just ignorance on my part concerning the cost. I have seen the triple monitor cable setup and box advertised on this and other Flight Sim sites and assumed they are required for that type of setup to get the images to blend properly. My two monitors simply plug into the back of my ATI X850XT and I never gave it much thought beyond that.Looks like you have managed to maximize your fun with the system you have. I admire your ingenuity. Thanks again,JayDub
