March 22, 200818 yr I bought their Audio FX 5+1 headset which uses a USB connection. My problem is that when they are connected my sound card becomes disabled and my Butt Kicker ceases to work. The two inputs seem to be mutually exclusive. I contacted EDimensional and they suggested an input setting which did not work and when I told them, this was the help they gave me: "..but if it's not working you would need to search google or do something that will allow you to use 2 sound outputs at the same time. We do not have the answer..." Does anyone know of a way to have both outputs live?
March 22, 200818 yr Raymundo,What operating system are you using? We will get you going.I am assuming you are using FSX.Edit:If you are using Windows XP:1) Plug your USB headset into a USB port.2) Go to Start>Control Panel> Sounds and Audio Devices3) Click the "Audio" tab4) Ensure that both "sound playback" and "sound recording" are set to your primary audio card or device (eg. SBLive).5) Click the "Voice" tab6) Set both the "sound plackback" and "sound recording" to your USB headset (C-Media USB Headset), which should appear in the drop-list of devices.7) Click "Apply"Within FSX on the Sound settings page:1) Set sounds to your primary audio device (eg. SBLive)2) Set voice to your USB headset (C-Media USB Headset). If you are using Windows Vista:1) Open control panel, choose classic view, tehn open sound.2) You should see two entries for speakers, highlight the entry for your primary audio card or device and click "set default". Within FSX on the Sound settings page:1) Set sounds to your primary audio device (eg. SBLive)2) Set voice to your USB headset (C-Media USB Headset).More than likely your C-media Headset is being set as the default device which will disable output from your soundcard or onboard audio and you will lose you butt kickerI too have a butt kicker as well as the Audio FX Pro 5.1 headset. ;)
March 22, 200818 yr Author Thanks for the response.I am running XP with a Sound Blaster Live sound card and NVidia N6800 video card.
March 22, 200818 yr Author Sorry, I should have told you I am still with FS9. Have adjusted my Devices for XP as you suggested but I am not sure if I can change the setting in FS9 in the way you suggest. I do have the drivers that came with the headset installed, do I really need them?
March 22, 200818 yr Raymundo,That changes things. You cannot use both devices at once for your primary sound device. You will need to use one or the other. If you wish to use a headset with FS9 instead of your speakers you need to have an analouge headset and plug the headset into your Y-Cable that came with your Butt Kicker (instead of your speakers).Unfortunately, you cannot use both at the same time, unless you are using a program that is independent from the selected output in the Control Panel, such as TeamSpeak.
March 22, 200818 yr Author Well, at least I know that when I make my move to FSX or beyond I will have the right headset. Really do appreciate your help in trying to work this out for me. Guess sometimes things just don't work together.Again, many thanks,Ray:)
