What does this 'WideViewAspect=True' parameter do?

Featured Replies

I can't see any difference between True or False. It's in the 'fsx.cfg' file.

Hi,The only difference I notice is that in spotview and in VC, the view is zoomed out a lot when WideViewAspect=True, compared to when set to False. I use a 24" lcd with resolution 1920X1200.Ulf BCore2Duo X6800 3.3GHz4GB RAM Corsair XMS2-8500C5BFG 8800GTX, Creative SB X-FiFSX Acc/SP2, Vista 32

It's awesome. But two days later BB gets an LG 26" in. Buggers! I was thinking of getting it. This W227 maxs out at 1680 x 1050 and the 26" at 1900 x 1200. My video card goes up to 1900 x 1200. So I was thinking that the 26" would look better; plus it has a smaller dot pitch value. I'm not sure what to do.If you have any suggestions or advice please let me know.

I got a HP LP2465.Ulf B

It widens the field of view of the scenery at the same zoom level. If you want to see the difference, pause a flight in the air and take a screenie of the view from the cockpit (2D or VC), save the flight, exit FSX, change the setting, restart FSX then reload the flight and take another screenie. You should see notably more scenery with it set to true, and FSX performance will reduce accordingly.Gary

It also affects the display of some 2D panels on wide screen displays. With my 24" 1900*1200 LCD, setting "WideViewAspect=False"the 2D overhead panel of the LevelD 767 has the lower light switchesof the panel not showing.Set "WideViewAspect=True" and the panel displays correctly.gb.
