AA/AF on Two HD3870 OC Cards (NO Crossfire Set Up {Yet} )

Featured Replies

OK, so while I wait for my nVidia 3800 GS to arrive, I've installed two ATI 3870 OCs with the Omega drivers and ATI Tray Tools, with 2 flat panels hooked into the primary card and the third monitor on the secondary, and I had a pretty good flight last night. Very cool! The primary monitor works great, but I can't figure out how to get TT OR ATI's own CCC manager to apply the settings for Anti Aliasing, AF, "no-mipmaps", etc., on the second card/screens -- the settings only work on my primary desktop monitor. Does anyone know where I do this? I've posted this over on ATT's website too, but I feel it's such a basic question I should be able to have have found my answer. I guess I'm just 's-l-o-w'.For some history on my latest Flight Sim debacle, my original thread is here (Again, thanks to everyone who have helped me thus far):<< http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=38853&page= >>

FYI, I got a reply from the devleoper of ATI Tray Tools that ATT doesn't handle multiple card/multiple screen hardware configurations.BUT, ATI's CCC v8.4 has an awesome "right click on the tray icon" feature that lets you set ALL 3D options individually on each display. I've only been testing it for a couple of flights, but it seems to work flawlessly! I'm also using their drivers that come prepackaged with the CCC Manager.

"OK, so while I wait for my nVidia 3800 GS to arrive,"You ordered a What? If that's an 8800GS, cancel immediately. The GS is a total dud. You need the GT (or a 512Mb memory GTS).

Sorry Sam -- Typo. I was typing too fast -- thinking about the question coming later in the post regarding the 3870s, and what I had ordered.Yesterday was insane.

This is with the fan at the stock setting. If I turn up the fan to say 50% it drops to about 109F to 117F.Mightly kewl!Woops, I should mention that the card is BIG. Like most 88 and 98 cards. I had to use shoehorns and grease to get it into my case.Uses two 6-pin connectors.

All I can tell you is I'm tired of messing around with video cards, autogen, clouds, etc. and I'm done with my own in-home tests (I've tested 5 cards in the last month). My new 8800GTX 768 is running bloody well -- I'm going to look into the 9 series later today just for jollies.

That 8800GTX was their initial offering, has been around for 18 months now and is Still the best card out there. There's something about that fatter buss and/or larger memory size that just works for FS. ATI has been in an unsuccessful catch-up mode since, and there has been no next-gen since Dec 2006 for Nvidia. But a real next-gen might (finally) be just round the corner. The GT200 (aka GTX 280) might be launching at COMDEX next month. http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=c...d=7364&Itemid=1This one will have a 512 buss, double the shaders from 128 to 256 and have 1 gig-O-ram. This thing will play havoc with 32 bit op system's 2 gig (even 'switched' 3 gig) kernal controlled program/V-ram limits. It'll finally be time for everyone to get on board the 64 bit express. With these new products though, it's always a wait-and-see game. We'll see.
