Shall I go for Win Vista?....

Featured Replies

Hey!I'm presently running Win XP Pro on my PC with a AOpen AX4SPE Max II motherboard with Intel P4 at 3200MHz, and with 2GB SDRAM DDR and a video system NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS with 256MB memory AGP bus, and I have plenty of space for my FS9 addons....However, I frequently meet with those "stutters", ie. even with acceptably high frame rate ( 20 and more ) my system stops for fractions of seconds all the time with intervals of seconds, even sometimes 10 or more seconds intervals, and this is very disturbing...I can't afford now to buy every now and then a new machine, so I wanted to install Win Vista which would allow me to install as well DirectX 10...However, a friend of mine, who is somewhat specialised in pc and things, disadvised me to grade up to Vista, because my system is not strong enough for that, he said me....So now I'm confused....Should I listen to him, or shall I nevertheless install Vistat and DirectX 10, which I really hope that this combination will give me better results than XP with DX 9 .....Can you advise me please?....GreetzJive1

Listen to your friend. To be able to use DX10 in Vista you also need a DX10 graphics card. The 7600 GS doesn't support DX10. No point in running Vista. You may also check that your hardware meet the Vista requirements:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-v...de-advisor.aspxUlf BCore2Duo X6800 3.3GHz4GB RAM Corsair XMS2-8500C5BFG 8800GTX, Creative SB X-FiFSX Acc/SP2, Vista 32

Jive,To be perfectly honest you will gain absolutley nothing going to Vista. FS9 will run on DX9 only. FS9 is not capable of utilizing DX10. So, FS9 will run in DX9 mode under Vista. You are not going to gain anything in the performance department transitioning to Vista. It would be best for you to save the money you would spend on Vista and put it towards a new system and then upgrade when you can afford it.
