October 26, 200817 yr HI, My computer just froze on me today.(It did it last week and I reinstalled Windows) I rebooted it and now all I have is a black screen with the computer running. The computer did not boot up this time. The MB hase lights, all the fans are running but it will not boot up. Any ideas? October 26, 200817 yr It might be your memory/settings. Try going back to just 1 stick of memory (and try it in different slots) and see if that boots. If not you may have to use your bios "safe mode". Before continuing I would suggest burning a copy of the latest memtest and when things are working again let it run and see if there are any errors. Let it run for a good 12 hours or so and then if that works there is a whole slew of burn programs, like orthos and prime, that you let run while monitoring voltages and temperatures. When that all runs clean you should be fine. No guarantee though.Just a suggestion but for me it is almost always memory type/settings that cause me similar symptons. You may have to check your MB book to find out how to call up safe/default mode and/or reset if necessary.
