  1. I don't know if this will work for everyone but after months of CTD's on exit of FSX using 737NGX I stumbled on a post about a throttle issue I was having with a different plane. It said to try reloading a current version FSUIPC$4. I have now been flying for weeks now with no CTD on exit. After months and months of CTD's as far as I can tell the problem is now fixed. I have gone back and rerun the tutorials and everything seems fine. I didn't remove or check to see which version of FSUPIC I did have and just ran the FSUIPC4 right after download. It may help no one but at least it is something thats easy to try and as far as I can tell doesn't hurt anything.
  2. Thanks! it makes the popup window a perfect size.
  3. To date I'm really enjoying the F33A except for one small problem. When I use the popup window for the GPS it will resize left and right but not vertically. On my 1920x1200 24inch the GPS popup is a bit small. Is this a setting that I can correct?
  4. I haven't followed your saga with Vista but FWIW let me give you my 2 cents worth of experience. I've probably built 20 or so computers in the last few years and have only had windows installation issues twice. Both times I went on long wild goose chases blaming MS and the world, along with crappy addons, bad drivers, and well you get the picture. To make a long story short both issues were my own fault. One was fixed by raising memory voltage and the other by proper (as in what works) memory timings. Both of those computers flat out refused to install windows properly. When I finally got widows installed they both had problems with some games and/or flying FSX.Before you even think about loading windows, whatever flavor, do yourself a favor and be sure that memtest is running clean. I usually run it overnight for at least 10 hours. Had I done this with both of those computers I could have saved myself a lot of trouble and frustation. I always run memtest for at least 2 hours when I build a computer and both of those computers passed no problem. It was only after running overnight that I saw memory errors the following morining. I was under the mistaken assumption that memtest ran clean. After correcting the problem I reloaded windows on them and then double checked using prime and/or orthos that they were actually fault free. If your absolutely sure that memtest is running clean on your computer than my hat is off to you for perservering and good luck!
  5. I may be the only one with this anomaly but it is a little distracting. From the outside view, at any airport, all my terminal buildings disappear together if I tilt my view up. If I look parallel to the ground they all reappear. They also reappear if I zoom out and get a bigger view. From the VC I can look out and tilt up or down but the buildings are always there. I have the effects slider to the right and have tried various setting changes but nothing so far has helped. It's a pretty minor annoyance but after looking through the old posts I haven't seen this happen to anyone else.I have FSX on its own drive and am running with VISTA64. I have a 8800GTX running at 1920x1200. I'm not sure when this showed up but am pretty sure I did not have this problem until a few months ago. I now have GEX, UTX, and Megascenery, along with several add on planes. If you tilt up enough the terminal buildings reappear and panning right to left does not seem to make a difference. I have tried complex airports with many buildings and simple ones with just a few but complexity doesn't seem to matter.Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you tried running with the DX10 preview on.I run a 8800GTX at 1920x1200 and had the same problem until I turned the preview on. It has now been several months with many flights and, for me, the problem seems solved.
  7. I've given up. 6 months ago I redid my computer by putting FSX on its own drive and installing Vista64. I've been a UT user for many years but under my current setup I run under SP2 only. When UT released the teaser I thought great. Little did I know 6 months later I would still be flying with default traffic. If anyone has a replacement that uses real airline names please let me know.
  8. I read about 1/2 the review on the DCS blackshark yesterday the 19th. When I came back to finish the review today it was gone.I don't see it in the commercial review index either.Did I miss something? I was really interested in buying this from F1.BTW I am very disappointed in the Abacus title flight deck 5. I bought that for 17$ without a review. This time for 50$ I'm reading some reviews. Thanks, your forums are great!Mike Ninov
  9. Try running with DX10 preview on. I had the same problem as OP until I turned it on. You have to live with flashing taxiway lines etc. but for me it's worth it.M. Ninov
  10. Hey nobody forces you to buy their product. If it is too expensive then don't buy.Trashing them for charging too much is based on your subjective terms. Other people may think the price is alright. In the end market forces will determine if it was priced too high. The whole state of Ca. is too expensive for me but I like their So. Cal. for FSX
  11. It may very well be a video issue but have you run orthos and memtest to ensure that your memory/cpu are not the cause of your crashes?I've been fooled in the past thinking I had video issues only to find that I had memory issues and getting clean memtest runs resolved my FSX crashes.I would highly recommend making sure your memory runs clean before going down any other path.
  12. The 180.43 worked fine except I lost fan control on my 8800GTX. It is there but greyed out. Reverted to the last WHQL and got my fan control using Ntune back.

Which drive did you get? Just wondering because I'm going to do the same. The 300G raptor is $240 and the Samsung is $100. I was hoping either would be an improvement over my current raid setup with FSX on the default C: drive.
  14. I'll second that Sunbeam. It is an amazing cooler that is only $30 dollars shipped from NewEgg. I just put in on a 125W X2 and the idle went from 42C to 20C - not a misprint. Load temps are even better. And thats with fan on low.Watch your fingers. The fins are very sharp. I used a stubby needle nose to put the clip on. Also make sure that you have at least 155mm from the top of the cpu to the side of your case. And no finned memory. This cooler pretty much covers the first slot.
  15. To NickN or the AVSIM moderator. The links in NickN's post don't work. Could you relink or post new jpg's. My next system is going to use DDR3 and I would really like to see the above results. Also, to NickN, corsair 4G DDR2-1066 dominator costs $78. The 4G DDR3-1600 is $400. In terms of, FSX flying, is there really a 320 dollar return on investemt? What if you unraided your MB and bought a $240 dollar raptor instead. Would that be money better spent? The budget is limited but the wants arn't. My goal isn't the most expensive or fastest but I'd like my FSX experience to be the best I can afford. It is always interesting reading what you guys say about cutting edge. Thanks for the info!
  16. It might be your memory/settings. Try going back to just 1 stick of memory (and try it in different slots) and see if that boots. If not you may have to use your bios "safe mode". Before continuing I would suggest burning a copy of the latest memtest and when things are working again let it run and see if there are any errors. Let it run for a good 12 hours or so and then if that works there is a whole slew of burn programs, like orthos and prime, that you let run while monitoring voltages and temperatures. When that all runs clean you should be fine. No guarantee though.Just a suggestion but for me it is almost always memory type/settings that cause me similar symptons. You may have to check your MB book to find out how to call up safe/default mode and/or reset if necessary.

  18. Maybe it's nothing or just my computer but after loading the newest WHQL Nvidia driver 178.13 I thought all was well.On my 3rd or 4th FSX play most of my user assigned (Saitek X52) FSX joystick controls including the normal "hat" switch were messed up. I reconfigured the controls thinking it was just a fluke but on my reloading of FSX the same thing happened. My rig has been running faultless for over a year and a half. The only new thing added recently were the new drivers. Thinking no way that could affect my joystick I reverted back to the prior driver and after two days of testing everything is back to normal.Has anyone else running Vista, FSX, and a Saitek X52 experienced this with the new 178.13 drivers? I checked the Nvidia forum, lots of complaints, but nothing about joystick problems.Maybe it's my setup or something else but I'm not upgrading to the new drivers anytime soon.
  19. Yes, Acceleration really added some strange gremlins. I had 169.04 but my FSX crashed with strange DXDIAG error reports. I use an 8800GTX and run 1920x1200. I was perpetually stuck with the mission dialog from the carrier landing no matter how I set up free flight. I went back redid the mission but the mission dialog was still there in free flight. I finally deleted the fsx.cfg and put the 163.69 drivers back on. I left the DX10 preview off and everything seems to be working correctly now. Time will tell but I think the Commanche will work out very well.
  20. For 20$ this is a great product. Unlike the C400 which I really liked but always crashed my FSX under VISTA this Piper has run very well.I have only had two issues and both of them seem to be solved by reverting back to the latest WHQL Nvidia driver. On my first IFR flight after 20 minutes the plane went transparent. Looking from the outside, or out the window from the inside, the exterior was transparent. The other problem was with the autopilot. The VS could be selected but no +/- fpm would indicate on the autopilot. I reverted back to the older Nvidia driver and so far all is well and neither problem has returned. Looking at night from the outside into the interior is very special. All of the inside guages are beautifully lit up and the exterior is gorgeous. Now, if I could only put the Avidyne's in this plane.Kudo's to Eaglesoft for a well done product.
  21. I have had off and on problems with OOM errors ever since putting on SP1. With a core 2 duo and 8800GTX along with 2gig running vista-32 I have seen other posts with no solution to this problem.A few days ago I left my computer on with the FSX splash screen showing where you select free flight or do settings and missions on the desktop. Nothing was selected just the screen where you make selections. After coming back from outside after 2 hours there were two OOM boxes on my desktop. No flying or scenery complexity or plane issues just the intro screen to make my selections with the 2 OOM boxes showingWhat gives? I have never in more than a hundred hours of NW2 with everything maxed had a hang up or freeze or crash. Only FSX has crashed me to the desktop with these OOM errors. I believe that FSX has a memory leak issue. Can anyone else verify this? Would adding 2 more gig help? This is extremely frustrating.
