Featured Replies

In Vista64, with my 4G RAM, I see that the system has decided I have 2642 MB of video ram, although my videocard is a GTX260 with 896 MB videoramHow is this sharing of RAM done?what will it improve? Can it be modified?Allen

Hi, Allen. You need to tell us what Mother board / BIOS you have? Look in the BIOS and see if you can change that? There are other ways, but in Vista things can get somewhat complicated. Post here if you need more help. TV

Nothing to do with shared graphics memory on the motherboard or the BIOS. Vista handles graphics differently than XP did:"One of the new features of Windows Vista is a Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) that allows such fancy tricks as compositing desktop windows using the computer's 3D graphics card. Another advantage of the new WDDM is that Vista virtualized graphics card memory, so that applications didn't need to worry if there was enough RAM on board the graphics card to store needed textures and other information. This also helps multiple 3D applications get along with each other without running out of elbow room. "Above from: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070...-overflows.htmlVista reports the entire graphics memory avilable, including Virtual Graphics Memory.
