Duel core or Quad core?

Featured Replies

Hi, My Q9300 died and I have to get a new CPU. Should I still look at Quad core or get a higher end Duel core? I run Vista 64 bit. 8 gb ram, EVGA 780i MB, 2 EVGA 9800GTX video cards. For your rig specs nothing short of a Q9450 will be sufficient. Given your use of SLI slower quad cores will likely cause CPU bottlenecks.I HIGHLY recommend you go with the new Q9650. The stepping on this CPU allows it to clock to near 4GHz without too many hassles, much better than any other quad core. Forget Dual Cores - they are yesterdays news as far as FSX is concerned.Konrad

Surely your Q9300 is under warranty - 3 years? Get Intel to replace it.Gary
