FSX vs FS9 - What do i do!?!

Featured Replies

Hi allYou know ive been becoming very jealous lately of the scenery packs around for FSX, They look simply stunning! Yet when you operate FSX on a PC on its own, with 0% addons, 0% Traffic it still demands so much, its jumpy, and stuttery and that leaves me to think what awful kind of performance it would bring with London VFR or UTX etc etc, im just so affaid to leave FS9 when even that seems to be choking now! I mean lately my FS9.1 has been choking itself in the London area, with 85% Traffic (World of AI) and PMDG 747-400 with LHR2008 & Flight1 Ground/Flight Enviroments. But ive defraged twice in the last week, uninstalled things that i really didnt need UT Europe/USA and set FS frames at 30 and still has made little difference, i have a system running on 3GB Ram, Nvidia 9800GTX (Badboy), AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dualcore 4200+, and still no improvement on frames to make me even think of installing FSX and leaving FS9 again!!! I know you can push the AI traffic bar down to improve things but then doesnt that take away the fun of Flight Sim!?!?!?!What am i missing or need to upgrade!?

As the previous poster said, a CPU upgrade will work wonders for your FS experience. Of course this will require a new motherboard and memory as well, but if you've got a few hundred dollars burning a hole in your pocket it's well worth it. A Core 2 Duo or Quad should do the trick. I run a C2D E8400 @ 4GHz and it handles FSX nicely (FS9 is no challenge).
