Help needed with BA repaint

Featured Replies

I am looking for some help in repainting this British Airways livery. The problem I have is in painting the white and black "highlights" as seen in the picture below. I have the solid red and blue stripes already done but the white and back highlight dot pattern is something I have no clue how to paint. A friend of mine suggested using the color halftone filter in photoshop but it did not work out. Any help is greatly apprecitated.http://www.airliners.net/open.file/570193/L/Mark.

Well in case anyone is interested, turns out this has to be done with photoreal textures. I am completing it now and will post the final results.Mark.

You might also try (next time) creating a white/black fade, then applying the halftone filter to that, then using the results of that as an opacity mask for your color layers. It is easier than erasing the textures, and can be changed without messing up the underlying color textures.Brian

I did a BA paint for the Feelthere CRJ, and I encountered this same problem.Although the fade on the real tail is "pixelated", all I did was a plain gradient fade, the effect is very similar, although not completelty correct, I found the results to be satisfactory for meDan.

In the end I emailed someone who has done a few of these repaints and was told he uses a photoreal texture. So I have done the same....looks quite good and will post screen once completed.Mark.
