Gurus: Getting smooth curves

Featured Replies

Hello,I wanted to get some input from the group about which techniques you have found to give you the best results in creating curved lines and textures on your repaints. I'm currently using PSP7 and the Bezier line to get the curved area. I'm thinking there must be a better way as I see many great repaints out there with some involved curved textures. Thanks in advance for any input.Dave Hwww.EagleExpressVA.com

Hi Dave,Unfortunatly not, in PSP the best way to do curves is using the bezier tool, but if anyone knows of a better way, lets hear it!!!Dan.

Pen tool? :)otherwise draw some big circles :)

Adobe Photoshop is the best way to do curves :D

but u didn't mention how... :-loli still think fireworks is best :)

Thanks for the tips, guys. I was hoping there was some secret, hidden curve tool. I guess it's off to practice with the bezier line tool.Dave HChief Operating OfficerEagle Express Virtual Airlineswww.EagleExpressVA.com

I have to say though..if you ever tried the pen tool in fireworks.. its bloody awesome :-eek ;)

There's a nice tool in Pixia called "Free Bezier" that works nicely (Works way better then the one in PSP IMHO).Once you have the line shape worked out, you just right-click and click on "Line". Then once your done you right-click again and click on "Deselect" to deselect the design :-coolThe only problem is that PSP files can't be imported into Pixia and likewise for PXA files being imported into PSP.Pixia Homepage: http://park18.wakwak.com/~pixia/Regards,StratobatEdit: Added Pixia Homepage link.

I use Photoshop CS and I don't use the pen tool, or at least very rarely. I have my own method using the marquee tool(s). I get razor sharp edges and I can do it fast. I think I am the only person who does it this way.Ed Knapp

>I have to say though..>>if you ever tried the pen tool in fireworks.. its bloody>awesome :-eek ;)Hi Lionel.I have been fooling a bit around with Fireworks lately, and I can't say that I notice any difference in the quality (mainly smoothness and sharpness) of curves compared to Photoshop CS when using pen tool. But I get just as good repaints using fireworks as when using photoshop. ;)http://home.online.no/~mosande2/avsimsign7.jpg

Using the line tool.... There is a start and a finish node. You can add nodes and use that to rotate slightly the node and that curves the line. Search help for Nodes.Joe w
