June 12, 200817 yr Everything in FS Repaint V2 works great, except for the fact that when I save the aircraft, they don't appear in FSX. I'm not even sure where the files are being saved. I save them and they are there everytime I open FS Repaint V2 but they are not in FSX. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program numerous times and yet, the new variations are still there, but I can't find them anywhere on my computer. Even if I just knew where these files were being saved I could copy a default texture, rename it, save the new textures over it and then update the Aircrafts CFG file. But I have no idea where they are.For a payware program I'm not too happy that I can paint the aircraft but I can't use them. I'm almost ready to go back to DXTBmp and Gimp to repaint aircraft. So the question is: How do I save these new variations in FS Repaint so that they show up in FSX and where are these new variations located? Thanks
June 19, 200817 yr After using editor to change the paint texture, close the editor. Now you may preview the work you have done. If satisfied, under File/Save, it will ask you if you're sure you want to write over the textures. (These will be the textures you originally opened to paint--edit)These textures reside in your aircraft/texture file. Open FS and it should be changed. Looks like FS Repaint temporarily saves files in it's Root Folder as .fsr files.John
June 20, 200817 yr Thanks John but I have tried everything. If it helps I'm using Windows Vista and I know people who use Windows XP and FS Repaint works fine for them.I've saved one aircraft, but others will not work. The repaints are there when I open FS Repaint but cannot be seen in FSX. I turned my User Account Control off and the repaints I have done weren't in FS Repaint at all. But when I turn my User Account Control back on, they once again appear in FS Repaint but cannot be saved in FSX. Also, while my user account control is turned on the aircrafts in FS Repaint aren't whole, they are missing many pieces.I have spent days trying to figure this out. I've created new textures and variations, changed cfg files, tried to convert the textures I had "thought" were saved into dxt format and then resave as DDS and paste over texture files. I've even tried saving over default textures, I still get nothing.I have the latest version from Abacus - FS Repaint Version 2.09.52 and yet I have no luck at all with the program.
June 29, 200817 yr VISTA rears it's ugly head again!SInce FS Repaint writes to teh aircraft.cfg file, you may have to fiddle with the "UAC?" (administrator controls) to allow access to the aircraft.cfg file ? Maybe someone who has VISTA can clarify this?Felix/FFDSPegasus Aviation Design
July 24, 200817 yr Sir,You are the first person I have seen that says they have FSRepaint working under Vista. I use 32-bit Vista and every time I try to execute the program I get a DX Error. I would greatly appreciate knowing how you got the program to work. I've talked to Abacus and they are aware of the problem but have not, thus far, solved it.Also, while FSRepaint may work with FSX, you can't store your AI aircraft anyplace other than the SimObjectsAirplanes folder. I have my AI aircraft in a number of other folders but V2 will not recognize the texture folders. I've also asked Abacus to fix this but have not heard back from them in more than 7 months.I surely hope you can tell how you managed to get the program to work.ThanksFrank
December 21, 200817 yr I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit system and FS Repaint ver. 2.10.53 Build 322. I changed the Buno. numbers on a Navy helo. to reflect the real numbers used. This was the first time doing any painting on FS aircraft after using MSFS for 10 years. Everything worked ok for me. No backward numbers either. Though it takes about 30 seconds to load.
August 18, 200916 yr Im using Vista 64 and ran repaint as an administrator. Make a new livery for whatever a/c you like then save it in fs repaint. Go to your msfs folder where the a/c that you are modifing resides and manually copy the textures from the base texture that you selected in repaint to the empty texture folder that repaint made. Once the textures are in that folder you can restart paint and modify them and they will be available to fly in fsx. The only thing I noticed is that the fs repaint plane doesn't get an entry in the aircraft.cfg file that I can find. Not sure how that works.
