  1. Try this - it works in my FSX system SimObjects Misc Jets MILsound Military Props Rotocraft Russian Jets A300 GE RD etc Example: A310-300 GE soundai - this is a regulart sound folder for an Airbus A310 I downloaded from our site. AI - all my AI aircraft are in this folder separated by developer. DJC Airbus A319-100 CFM DJC soundai - this folder (and many like it) is in each aircraft-type's directory. It contains the alias pointing to the AI sounds in the Misc\Traffic_Sounds\Jets\A320 CFM RD\soundai sound folder This statement is in the aisound folder - aisound.cfg in the spelcific aircraft's folder [FLTSIM] alias=..AI Sounds Pack\SimObjects\Misc\Traffic_Sounds\Jets\A320 CFM RD\soundai NOTE: You do not need an assosciated alias in the specific aircraft's folder. The "sound=" takes care of that. fb
  2. Which BK is everyone using - direct wire or wireless. I was going to purchase one or the other but have not made up my mind. What do you guys think? Frank
  3. Now that we have Global from ORBX, I think the next step is to slap on some fantastic mesh on top. I was wondering what the community thinks about putting FTX Global with FSGenesis NEXTMap (9.6 m mesh) terrain mesh. Right now NEXTMap does not cover the whole world but I'm quite sure Justin is going to see about what is left. So, what do you think? Is this the way to go? Frank
  4. Shaun, You are not imagnining the lack of download links. It looks like the Download page is missing the links. I have been using these links for a while now so I know they were there. I'll send them an e-mail to see if there is a problem. Frank
  5. UAL 5403, I'm glad you posted this issue with the mouse pointer. My system has the very same problem. The displayed cursor goes crazy - blinking many times per second. The mouse actions still work but it makes you think something is wrong with the PMDG panel. Frank
  6. Responding as a member of that "silent majority." Message to PMDG - PLEASE, PLEASE don't change a thing. One of the things that makes PMDG the outstanding developer it is - is they only release products WHEN THEY ARE READY - and not before. Personally, I don't give a damn if PMDG ever shows pics of upcoming releases. Just give me that "super-duper" real thing (sorry, that's coming from a really old man). When you purchase a PMDG product, it is nearly PERFECT. Is that clear - morons. Frank
  7. Hey, better late than never. :-) Yup, I got that one too. Thus far, everything is working as it should. I've been able to add a couple of aircraft without incedent so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for your input. Frank
  8. Yes, it was SP1 for the SDK. Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm so glad to be back..... Frank
  9. Oh Joy. Problem solved. I searched the forums to find posts associated with the "black screen." After reading more than 30 posts I found an entry about using the installation disk "repair" functions. While I was doubtful this would fix the problem I did it anyway (desparation). After all, this was a brand new installation. Wishful thoughts. At any rate, the repaire fixed the black screen problem. Now all I have to do is reload all my software. Yikes! Frank
  10. It never fails - FSX is such a lovely piece of software - NOT. I've been having some kind of trouble getting FSX to run. The program immediately crashed after attempting to start the app. Nothing I did fixed the problem - isolating user files, removing executables, and the like. So, once again (for the 1000th time), I accessed the PMDG instructions for removing and re-installing FSX and proceeded to do it all over again. After installing all the various pieces of FSX I now had a fresh version loaded on my system (base plus Accel plus SDK plus sp1). No problem, right? Wrong. The main user access screens display properly except the aircraft presentation box in the "Free Flight" menu. Nothing there but black. I checked several aircraft (default) but none of the aircraft displayed. I tried "flying" a number of the default aircraft buy even in the windows mode, no aircraft - just black screens. I tried replacing the default fsx.cfg file with one that I had been using on a previous installed version - still no aircraft. The only other thing that has changed on my system is that I installed all the Windows 7 updates. Prevous to this time, I was using an original (disk) installation with no changes. I thought perhaps these updates would fix the display problem. I was apparently wrong. I also updated my graphics card device driver in case that was the problem - Nope. Can someone please help. Thanks. 11. I thought of something else. Since my system is telling me that the setup.exe file has an error, would it be possible to download the original package to see if my files are corrupted. I don't know how to do this since my product download has expired. Would this help? Frank
  12. I ran ccleaner and registry repair and it did not fix the problem. Note: All of my computer files - especially FSX - are backed up on other disk drives. Is there some other solution? Will uninstalling FSX and re-installing it get rid of the setup.exe error and allow me to re-install the B738? Frank
  13. I don't know what happened to my system but FSX suddenly stopped working. Nothing I tried seemed to help. I instituted a restore to a previous system installation. It didn't fix the problem. The restore point was back to a point where I had uninstalled the PMDG B738-9 - except there was still an entry in the Windows 7 "Programs and Features" list. I tried to uninstall the program from there but I received and error that indicated that setup.exe had failed. I also tried to re-install the aircraft and a message displayed indicating that I had a previous installation of the program so the install program terminated. At present, I have no PMDG folders in my SimObjects/Airplane or FSX main folders, I can't uninstall the aircraft and I can't re-install it. I thought perhaps I could manually edit my Windows registry to fix the problem. I removed one folder index and that didn't fix the problem. There were no other registry entries associated with PMDG. Can someone please help? I'd like to get back to flying. 14. I'll go away now - back under my flightsim rock. :-)
  15. Tom, The Web site condition I described in my previous post happened again this morning. The whole site, with regard to the forums, was impossible to read because of all the revealed code. No other site I link to has this problem so I don't think this issue originates from my end. It appears the problem has been solved or it went away by itself because the forums are clear right now. If you'd like I'll stop reporting this issue but I thought you would like to know. Frank
  16. I searched for this issue but was unable to find a post on this. So, here is my issue. I'm looking to configure my NGX so that the aircraft and its panel will display properly across an AMD Eyefinity 6 monitor display. My particular setup includes 5 monitors for the outside scenery and one monitor for the instrument panel. I looked at the files in the B737-800 aircraft folder concentrating on the aircraft.cfg files and the panel folder. In the 800 folder there is a panel folder containing 5 panel.cfg files - one for the default, one for the 4.3 ar and one for the "Wide" display panel. In the 800W folder there is a panel folder that contains a panel.cfg file pointing (alias) to the 800 panel folder. My question is this: How do you setup the 800's panel folder to test the various configurations. While the aircraft.cfg files are set up for read and write, the panel.cfg files are "read only." If you attempt to change this panel config, the OS tells you the file is "read only." I tried to change this designation but the system would not allow access to the file. If I wanted to test, for example, the 4.3 ar, how would I access the 4.3 panel configuration from the aircraft.cfg file and what files would I need to access within the panel folder. In other words, how do I get to the 4.3 or WIDE configurations and what role to the panel_vc... files play in the display of the cockpit. What I'm trying to test is the 2D panel displayed across my 5-monitor (27" monitors) configuration. The outside of the cockpit view is good. The panel is not displayed properly. I know that the fsx.cfg file must have the proper WideViewAspect= statement to match either of the panel configurations but I don't know how to get to these configurations within the aircraft's panel setup. In addition, which of these two setups (4.3 or WIDE) should I use to get the cockpit window undocked and moved to another monitor so that my outside view is displayed properly on the eyefinity 6 monitor group while the instruments are displayed on a single 27" monitor. I hope that my explanation is clear. Thanks in advance. 17. This piece of software works great. If you have any OpenCockpits hardware modules you can automatically generate a script to enable your hardware (no programming required) - works with PMDG aircraft. Frank
  18. Very well. Thanks Tom. I'll let you know if it happens again. Frank
  19. This may have been posted before but I didn't see the entry. I use Firefox for my browser. On a routine basis when I access either the main page or sub-pages I get all sorts of programming all over the pages. If I use the previous page button (left arrow) and return to the page I just left, the code disappears and the proper structure of the page returns. Is this revelation of code a common thing with Firefox or is this some other issue with Web site programming. Thanks, Frank
  20. Sorry - that is "Aspect Ratio" in the title. Old fingers.

  22. I run FSX Accel + under Windows 7 64-bit. I run FSX in the Windows mode. In the last couple of days my mouse (USB mouse)cursor goes crazy within the FSX windows. The cursor appears to blink rapidly making it harder to access a mouse button. The cursor only blinks in the FSX window. Once you move the corsor out of that window, it works fine - no blink. I've tried resetting the USB plug. This didn't help. I tried restarting the OS - that didn't help. Has anyone else experienced this rapid blinking when they fly? Thanks Frank
  23. GO, GO, GO. You still here????
  24. I know this is going to sound lame but I have a new B737 Engine/APU Fire Control panel. The panel has a number of switches and LEDs. Each component has 3 lugs. I'm wiring the panel components to a master I/O control card which has sets of pins for Inputs and Outputs. Each set has a common (or ground) wire. My question - how do you connect wires from the components to the board. Which (switch/LED) terminal is ground, do you use all three lugs, or do you just use one lug plus the "ground" lug, etc. I've looked on the Internet but cannot find any info for wiring these types of components. Can someone please help. Thanks Frank
  25. Is there anyone out there using a 6-monitor setup with FSX. I have two Matrox units but the app only displays on one 3-monitor set. Matrox said there is some way to combine the outputs from my graphics card. Thanks, Frank
