A flightsim pure youtube channel?

Featured Replies

I was thinking about making a youtube channel, this channel would only be for flightsim (not strictly FSX but that would be the bulk for it)  . I was thinking about aircraft review, flights in the aircraft going over systems for people who are interested in the particular aircraft. and maybe some tutorials. I was also thinking about a weekly podcast where me and a few friends would go over new releases, upcoming releases and subjects like that, but we would also just talk and have fun. There might be a few laughs involved too.

Overall I think it would be fun but I wanted to hear the simming communities feelings about my idea.

Excellent Idea. Do it.

With the demise of FSbreak, which very rarely puts up podcasts anymore, the community needs stuff like this to keep the hobby alive and provide motivation to us all.

I'll subscribe for sure ;)

Make it and they will come.

Shoot the link and you have a Sub here also.

GO, GO, GO. You still here????

There are many on YouTube, but like some of you said, they don't make videos anymore. Good idea! Maybe it can be made the official AVSIM YouTube page?

Wow, thank you for the support guys. I will try to get the first vid up ASAP!

One thing, don't go into it, thinking you can make money with youtube's partnership program! MS has put the kabash  on that but good! As of Nov last year (Or was it Oct?) they changed the rules to no longer allow users to have any financial benefit from using in game content, including youtube videos. As a result Youtube will no longer monetize FS videos. (You can still have ads in your videos, but you won't make any money from them. Surprisingly many videos still have them.). I think that's why many of the popular channels that did reviews and such, which were Youtube partners are gone, or are just not as active as before, like "Cessna154". There are still a few good ones around, like "Frooglesim".

Thanks

Tom

Yes, do it! We (well, at least I do) really need a good FS podcast. I really liked FSBreak but it looks like they have other things to do in life since the last "real" episode was almost half year ago. While I'm commuting to work I usually listen to podcasts and sadly there are no FSX or FS podcasts except FSBreak that I know of. Are there any others? Maybe good aviation podcasts?

Youtube channel is also a good idea if you have a very good computer (for making videos that are watchable) and A LOT of time. I'd certainly subscribe!

I just recently found Froogle on Youtube. He's really good and he makes a lot of videos. I recommend subscribing to him!

UPDATE:

First video going up on Sunday. I will give a link to the channel when it goes up.

If this is for me, than thanks, but I already saw that as well as the information about that being on Sunday. Well, I guess no link, no channel, any Sunday possible. I hope they didn't already lose interest. I really wish for a good any FS podcast.

Thanks for the recommendations some of you made for my channel (I am Froogle from frooglesim).

The comment someone else made about monetization of fsx is incorrect - if you partner with a network that has agreements to cover the sim you are fine. Similarly if you are doing something more than simply showing Microsoft's graphics and listening to Microsoft's sound set (ie teaching people, reporting, etc etc) then it is fair use of the product and arguable with Youtube. Ultimately though you need to get the channel to grow rapidly and then partner with a network when you meet the minimum requirements to get legal agreements for use and coverage in place.

All the best

Pete / Froogle
