  1. While I never met Maik or even spoke with him, I cannot count the number of times his voice has guided me around the flight deck and made my awful flying somewhat bearable as a result. To lose someone so suddenly, so unexpectedly, is such an intense and painful loss. My prayers are with his family, his friends and his colleagues. Rest In Peace then soar with the Angels sir. You will be truly missed by so many. Froogle.
  2. Thanks for the feedback. I make videos on YouTube, and invariably with 38,000 people watching the channel I get a lot of comments from people if quality drops, if I'm not running the latest greatest doofangle, etc etc. Sometimes in the pursuit of what makes a video look really good, and in the course of beta testing numerous products, things break and instabilities get introduced. When they do if I still have to get a video up I have to shoot it somewhere else. In the case of the Airbus video you mentioned I had started to encounter the R6025 error. There is no single fix that cures that. It is due to a mismatch of runtime VC++ libraries on the machine and instantiated by add-ons within the sim. I did try working through exe.xml, and dll.xml as well as uninstalling likely culprits to make it go away but eventually simply ran out of time, a luxury most hobbyist simmers have but unfortunately I don't. When I recently replaced large parts of my machine I changed the OS as well and that gave me a chance to start completely fresh and as a result so far P3d is holding up really well. Comparitively when installing and trying FSX on the new build I had the same issues many Windows 8 users have had, and those issues weren't there in FSX SE. Over the course of my videos yes my opinion will change, and I'm pretty open about saying when it has, and why. The alternative would be to either never state an opinion (which would turn my channel in a very boring rote recital of marketing bullet points from various companies), or stick blindly to an opinion despite learning over time that it is no longer valid. Yes, as you also mentioned in your post, I do strive to push the sliders up to or near max and work very hard to get as high a frame rate as possible and that in turn can lead to instability. Unfortunately it's what I believed was required to build a successful YouTube channel - it appears to have been the correct course of action as well. Finally to address another comment about my association with PC Pilot. Yes, I am a long term freelancer for the magazine. The magazine has no influence at all over the content on my channel, other than my own conscious decision to try very very hard to never cover something that I've been paid to cover in print. The exception is FSiPanel which I reviewed on the channel before being commissioned to write about it. PC Pilot magazine's published opinions are not always or necessarily mine, which is why I have a channel called "Frooglesim" as opposed to "PC Pilots YouTube Channel" or something similar. To the original poster, I really am appreciative of you posting my videos, but have to throw it out there that there's really no need. I was pointed to this thread by a subscriber, but I personally tend to stay clear of Avsim as I find it largely to be quite a hostile environment and not something I particularly enjoy being involved in. It was also the motivation behind forming my own forums, which obviously I won't promote here or link to. Again, thank you.
  3. As I think I said in my previous email "Here's the message I was forwarded which originates etc etc". It's an email that was forwarded to me by one of the guys involved in the case.
  4. Just been reading through this whole thread. Lots of conjecture following my video. He was arrested and questioned numerous times and each time released on police bail. I received the following the other day from one of the people he scammed. Please bear in mind that despite the message he is, as Patrick pointed out, still "allegedly" scamming people. I had 2 people contact me just yesterday in fact. Anyway, here's the message I was forwarded which originates from the investigating officer at Halifax Police. I have not spoken with the officer who sent the message, and it is entirely possible this too is all being fabricated by someone, but I am in direct contact with at least 4 people who have all forwarded me messages from the same officer. I have withheld the officers information from the message. ==================== Matthew HARDY answered his bail today and was formally charged with fraud by false representation. He has been remanded on bail and will be attending Calderdale Magistrates’ Court on 20th November 2014 in relation to 16 offences, which includes your complaint. Should you wish to discuss the matter further please feel free to contact me by email or on the number below. Kind regards,
  5. All right guys, can we put an end to the back and forth re he said she said stuff. It's pretty draining to be completely open, particularly if you happen to be one of the catalysts of the conversation. I personally agree that the conversation at the other site is pretty awful and I can totally see how it would deter some people from becoming customers. Hopefully when I get their products the quality of work is high enough to shine above all that drama (from experience with Gorans work on the DC3 I'm pretty confident it will). Until then though...moving on (Grammar poor, in bed just work up ugh hate mornings )
  6. It's still pretty good here right now - 90 a couple of days back. Was a little gloomy today.
  7. sigh. and at 2 hours 20 I say a whole lot more indicating my love for your product line as well .... My "I really kinda don't care" stems from drama like this that seems so inextricably tied to various parts of the X-Plane community. Don't need it, don't want it, just want to make great vids about a great product. I also pointed out the same to Goran in the emails I copied you on this evening. Anyways as John said, and I agreed, we can move on, say this was a misunderstanding (my misunderstanding why there was hesitation and silence, my misunderstanding given the anger in your forums directed at me that perhaps you don't want to deal with me, etc etc) and get back to business. If you want me to look at your products then I'm happy to do so. Also **STILL** happy to take you out for a beer as I've suggested now twice in emails to you over the past 18 months since we only live 30 minutes away from each other. All the best
  8. I don't think I ever said a published REFUSED. What I did say is that two developers in particular said they wanted me to look at their products, you as their publisher were asked to provide them, then a flame war erupted with you and another of your developers on the forums you own (before I even got involved) and I heard nothing from you since. In fact specifically I said that I LOVED your products, and regardless (despite the anger directed in my direction) will be looking at them, but after I have looked at the products that others did send in for review. Please don't make statements as you did above implying that my honesty or integrity are in some way in question as a result of a third parties heresay about my exact phraseology. For your collective part, on your own forums Ben Russell one of your developers posted the following statements in his tirade "I find it annoying that someone with a $300 mic and a $300 headset wants free content." "I've never really given a toss about what a review has to say about product after that. Common opinion matters. Reviewers do not." "he guy spends half his ######ing video talking about how bad he feels about putting out the hat AFTER PUTTING OUT THE HAT TO THE PEOPLE WHO CAN LEASE AFFORD IT." - And then a slew of comments from yourself at your own users after they stepped in to call Ben out in his insults hurled at me (again, many of which were made before I was even aware of your forums). Fairly sure I did buy it and was supplied it (the DC-3) - I'm in error there then I apologize. I have checked my email and Cameron is correct, the DC-3 was supplied for free for review. Also in checking my email prior to my video going up about X-Plane I contacted Cameron directly on September 10th asking for updated links to look at the 64 bit version - he was one of the guys that did not respond hence my video. Contact was resumed After the video went live.
  9. RSR was of course also interviewed and yes as soon as I have a link I'll post it. The Journalist said the piece will be published after release. - Pete Wright
  10. Thanks very much guys. I'm glad, and humbled, by how well this one got received. - Pete Wright
  11. Yes more was offered in some cases repeatedly.
  12. Without wanting to get drawn into a distraction here you really should read YouTube s terms of use and service. Full copyright, publishing and distribution rights are held by the publisher. Unless they specifically relinquish their globally protected rights then no it is not 'being given away for free'. In the case of frooglesim rights are held by me and enforced by the network (Fullscreen.net) I am a part of - which has over 200 million subscribers network wide, and 2.5 billion views per month. That network partnership effectively subsidizes my time and costs with ads on the videos revenue from which is split 70\30. Downloading videos unless explicitly stated that you may is against yt own terms of service and a breach of copyright. It also irks the lawyers at the network, annoys advertisers and in the ultimate worse case would lead to a loss of ad revenue effectively making it unviable for me and others to spend 40+ hours a week of our 'spare' time providing you the viewers with a free service. The issue of downloading and then redistributing and claiming false ownership is whole other ball of serious legal wax.
  13. To follow on from Ryan's comment here and as I stressed on the stream, I am almost certain the A/T spooling up was due to my error. Its not something I have seen this aircraft do ever before.
