  1. 99% of the time it is this issue. Also trying Google it will probably point you to various posts even here on Avsim regarding that issue!
  2. Here is a possible solution found by searching the forums:
  3. I believe it has something to do with weather generation, so if you look at your TAT you will see it's pretty hot, and therefore the aircraft cannot climb any further even at full throtlle also called Density Altitude, the higher the aircraft climbs the colder it would get and thus optimizes the engine performance, I think if you search the forum you will find the answer, it was a pretty common issue but nothing to do with the aircraft itself, as it is functioning exactly as expected.
  4. Hi Bryan, Just a quickie how far are we away from SP1? Kind regards Marius
  5. I will probably evaluate FSW like i do all platforms, and see if i find it to be better or not, I am not ashamed to say that i am on a 12 year old platform, and yes i do experience the odd VAS issue, but if i look at where DTG is going with their offering, i must admit that i am a little weary, if i have to go to a new platform the cost to replicate what i currently have would inhibit me of moving over. Do i really want birds flying around, unless i can see a bird ingested by an engine and having an engine failure , then i will look at it, will it have animated people boarding my 737 as i complete my final flightdeck checks? That is the question, it must be really one heck of a step upwards for me to even consider it. Steam might have 13million odd users, my sons use steam and buy all their game stuff on it, so im not against steam at all. Will i pay a premium to purchase a add-on from Steam against using PMDG, Simarket, FSlabs, Aerosoft etc etc, no I wont! Im pretty sure that FSX is resillient enough that after 12 years it will still be good for another few. Thanks to developers that look out for the best interest of the community at large!! Just remember you get simmers and you get Simmers, those that just want to get into a aircraft push E to start the engines, taxi out and take off, and then their are the guys that has planning software, weather software, passenger software, EFB software, and realistic aircraft, that is the hardcore simmers, and we can be a difficult bunch!
  6. Apparently not the same model!, they have gone back back and produced a new model for the 8, not just an outside model but system and flightdeck and flightmodel the same as the real deal, unlike the first Queen released
  7. Good afternoon all, Although i enjoy the 747-400 so much, i cant stop to think when the -8 will be released? Any news on this release?
  8. OK, so last night was my first flight with the Queen (yes i bought it on release day, but only got the time last night for my first flight), all in all it went pretty well, i think my knowledge of the previous Queen did help alot. I do have a huge concern, and that is my VAS usage, i use Scenery Configurator so only use scenery where i am flying, last night was a short hop from FAOR (Johannesburg) to FALE (King Shaka INt Durban), when i started my sim as usual my default is the trike, so started up, started my FSINN as usual, my VAS was around the 300000 mark, when i changed to the Queen it dropped to 260000 then as i was setting up continuously dropped to where i was ready to taxi to around the 169 000 mark. After i took off it climbed back to 180 000, passed T/C and just before T/D i had a "Out of Memory". Now i have flown this specific route, many many times as i fly for BA Virtual, i tested the 777 and did not have the same issue. Luckilly i have FSUIPC Save on, so i could restart and finish my flight. To be honest cant see how i can finish a flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow in this aircraft, i will give it a try this weekend and report back. There is definitely a huge difference in the VAS footprint between the 777 and 747, i had 1 or 2 OOM with the 777 in the beginning, but this was quickly sorted, but the Queen is different monster, even on the 777 as the flight nears the end of a 11 hour flight the VAS is reduces significantly compared to the start of engines. Last nights flight was approx 45 minutes, and i would say 20 minutes into the flight i got the dreaded OOM, as i said before i have Scenery Editor, so only chose the ones im flying into, ORBX World, AS2016, Avliasoft EFB and thats it. So this is really bugging me!
  9. I also bought it, wow its delivery flight from Seatle was just pure magic, i spent most of the flight gawking at the features, so landed at OR Tambo (Johannesburg), taxied to my house, cops pulled me over, apparently the wings was breaking down the highway light pylons, and it didnt have a number plate and the indicators were not amber, and the lights were blinding the people from the opposite lanes, geeezzz but these cops can complain, oh and i got another one for taking up too much lanes on the highway, for crying in a bucket it is a 747 they should be marveling at it not giving me tickets!!!! Just cant please some people! So i slipped the cop my license with a R50 insiode and a KFC voucher, did the trick!!!
  10. Hi there, Please dont see this as being rude or disrespectful at all, i am saying this with the utmost respect!! You purchased an extremely high fidelity aircraft with intriqiute (spelling ?) systems, i think you should explore the wonders that is the PMDG 777 and do the tuturial flights which came with the package, you will be totally amazed by it , and you dont need hours to setup and get to a runway to take off either, ok i must say i do have my flightplans loaded before hand, I usually fly in the changeover (taking over from previous crew), and for me i can within 10 minutes be ready to push back and hear those GE90 starting up, it all adds to the immense depth of this aircraft. To spend approx $90 - 100 on a aircraft and just want to use it as a quickie then you could have used the stock standard 747/737 or Airbus that came with FSX, wouldnt have cost you anything. Just take your time, the FMC isnt as daunting as it looks, most of it can be filled in with just a mere double click i.e. ZFW, CG etc... You have this most amazing piece of art in your hands, learn to use it, you will not regret it for one day! Happy flying, hope to hear you soon on VATSIM Marius
  11. That is a very interesting question being posed? Have you received any concrete answers yet? thanks
  12. Thanks guys, love your remarks! Mark i just hope my &@($* popping out of the seat getting up after the flight wasnt heard in the cabin!
  13. I know the heading doesnt say much, but at least if you are reading this then it attracted you. Last night i did a online flight from FALE (King Shaka Intl) to FAOR(Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) South Africa, well i have a normal setup nothing spectacular at all, i do have the latest version of AS16 and this is my pretty main reason for this topic. As i was on blocks at Gate A10, it was pouring down, and i could see the weather patterns move, nice touch PMDG oh i was in the 737-800. had a wet taxi to runway 06 at that point, and quickly climbed through the soup, with some mild turbelance being experienced, no coffee was served and we were running out of brandy and whiskey to calm nerves, woman were even giving their babies some brandy, flight attendants looked the other way! In any case reaching my altitude FL330 TOC and TOD is only but a few miles apart, and was flying above the clouds, running through my checklists and getting ready for my arrival into FAOR, all set we began our descent with the weather radar set to below i noticed a few red spots like a teenager with pimple problem(sorry for those having something to eat) , which seems to only increase, i saw departing B737-800 from Lanseria (low Cost Hub), warned them via Unicome of the weather, the aircraft was shaking and shuddering, engines spooling up spooling down, i finally broke clear of the weather around the turn on the downwind leg to Runway 21R (made a booboo in planning at it should have been 21L for arriving aircraft), held one of our own Marno Koen flying i believe offline as CAW901, as i was coming around to finals i could see the weather moving in fast. As my wheels touched the tarmac i threw everything at it, reverse thrusters, speedbrakes, flaps, the Galley toilet and an air hostess, ok maybe the air hostess is going a little too far, sweetie she is!, i took a highspeed turnoff and wished Marno well on his takeoff on rest of the flight. I taxied to my gate C3 and pulled up, and switched of the engines to the delight of everyone aboard we made a safe return to mother earth, while mother atmosphere where trying her best to get us mashed into the ground somewhere. I extracted myself from my seat, with a loud popping noise, and probable brown skid marks in my otherwise perfect white undies. I walked outside flightdeck door to apologise to each passenger while the co-pilot was cleaning up the mess, (i do have 4 bars versus his 3). To end everything off, although most of the above happened, when i got into bed and i live approx 50Km from FAOR, we had the mother of all storms that came over our house, and i rolled over to the flight attendant/wife and said to her, geez but AS 16 is accurate!
