iFDG jetBlue A320 repaints

Featured Replies

There needs to be a better ifdg jetBlue a320 repaint. Ive tried to find a few but all the ones i found were messed up in some way, and unrealistic. It would be nice if someone could make a realistic ifdg jetBlue A320?

It's not entirely true. There are many excelent JetBlue repaints for the iFDG A320 in the library. Search for "iFDG JetBlue" in the "Flight Simulator 2004 - Aircraft Repaints, Textures and Modifications" category, and look for the repaints made by Timothy Wong (B-W Designs). I think they are compatible with FSX too, but i think it needs a modification in the aicraft.cfg.Have a nice day, Pilot Nicco.

I like Mike Mahats paints. I think he should make an ifdg jetBlue A320.

Here are the problems I see with the current ones here on AVSIM:-Purple reflections-Not accurate models(Colors with the engines and body dont match, gray metal cockpit window instead of white, the tail on each side arent equal to each other, the landing grear doors are totally painted thus making the bottom line of the body of the aircraft not match the landing gear door because a part of it sticks above the line, the shadow from the elevators on the body, goes completely under the aircraft)There needs to be a model with all these fixed, so its more realistic

Pilot Nicco, If you believe that Mike Mahat does nice work (and from what I could see in the screen shots of what he has pulished here at AvSim I would have to agree) why not try and contact him via email and ASK him to do an A320 in one of JetBlue's liveries? Maybe he already has it on his to-do list. Maybe you could persuade him to put it ON his to-do list.In the interim, a quick search in FS9 repaints yeilds over 4 1/2 DOZEN texture sets (56) for the IFDG A320 in various versions of Jetblue's livery by a good dozen different authors. Have you downloaded and examined all 56 of them? Surely at least ONE of them is good enough to use. Look. Painting an FS model airplane is a hobby. It can take hours to do even a simple repaint. That does not count the hours of locating and studying photographs of real world liveries or sketching imaginary liveries. Those of us who repaint aircraft do what interests us. Perhaps Mr. Mahat isn't interested in doing a Jetblue livery. Ir maybe he believes that with 56 versions of Jetblue already out there, it has been done - to DEATH!If all else fails, the paintkit for the A320 is available for free download at IFDG's site. You are welcome to download it and correct all the other folks' "mistakes". But they may not actually BE mistakes. You do not know what limitations the person who made the 3D model "built in" to it when he/she textured the model in the first place. There is a forum here for repainting that even has a suggested "tool kit" for repainting. There are also links around to tutorials on repainting. You never know. You might find that you actually ENJOY doing your own repaints.

I did suggest it to Mike Mahat, but I havent seen a response from him. I checked like you asked, and I only found about 2 pages of jetBlue repaints of the iFDG A320? Can you link me the page one of what you searched?

Sorry, I miswrote. I thought I had done a search on "ifdg a320 jetblue" but suspect I only searched for "a320 jetblue". There are still 2 entries by Derek Fedak and Kyle Schurb along with 9 sets by Timothy Wong (B-W Designs). Are you saying that NONE of those are good enough? Also, look at those different textures and see if any of the "errors" are consistent accross the 3 repainters' work. If that proves to be the case then what you are calling "mistakes" might well be limitations in how the model was originally textured by the folks at IFDG. If so then effectively the problem cannot be solved.Again, if Mr. Mahat does not get back to you and none of the existing texture sets is acceptable, then the only course for you is to assemble the tools needed and do your own paint of the IFDG A320 in JetBlue livery. Complaining about the perceived "deficiencies" in other people's work accomplishes nothing. If one is part of the process and they are not part of the solution then they are - by default - part of the problem. The choice is YOURS whether to remain part of the problem or become part of the solution.

Do you know where i can find a repainting software thats free? Like one where I can make my own jetBlue iFDG A320?

Unfortunately things like Photoshop and Paintshop Pro are not free. I use Photoshop Elements and it is reasonably priced. If you are willing to use pirated software, I have heard that you can obtain Photoshop online via free file sharing programs such as Limewire and Frostwire. I do not use them but have been told that you CAN get many things there. You can also get Martin Wright's excellent program DXTBitmap for free at http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/. DXTBMP converts between the DXT3 format that many FS9/FSX models use for textures and a standard bitmap that graphics programs can edit. Used PROPERLY it can be invaluable in repainting.I would also suggest going to the Abacus website and downloading the demo version of Flight Simulator Repaint. That would let you check on your progress without having to actually load up Flight Simulator for each intermediate step. You can also find MANY free online tutorials on repainting. For free source material you should go to Airliners.net. Good luck and happy painting.

Two excellent FREE painting programs.Paint.net and The Gimp.I prefer The Gimp.RegardsLeen de JagerpsI am afraid a free demo version for FSRepaint is no longer available.

Do you know how I can fix the purple line effect? Other than making the backround of the texture files a different color. And do you know how I can open files that say they cant be opened so edit them, like the landing gear file?Thanks,-Nicco
