June 30, 200817 yr This is my first painting attempt and i am using the overland 777-200 and their paintkit for a DHL 777. I paintied the fuselage and tail and left everything else as it was when i downloaded the paintkit. I edited the cfg and fsx recognises it but nothing shows up its jsut that screen where the plane spins but nothing being visible. All the testures were converted with photoshop cs3 into BMP format.Any help?Richy Gibson David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
June 30, 200817 yr Have you converted the textures after Photoshop with DXTBmp/ImageTool? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 30, 200817 yr Author Nope shall i do this with the BMP textures i have painted or will i need to paint it all again? David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
June 30, 200817 yr If you just saved them as 32bit from Photoshop they still should be fine to convert. Heres a simple tutorial on my site:Click This however was designed for FS2004. I think it should still just about work for FSX though. You may want to try saving as DDS (Save As - DDS Texture) :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 30, 200817 yr Author They are all 24 bit so if i convert them all to 32bit bmp using photoshop and then open up DXTbmp and then convert them to dds?ThanksRichy David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
June 30, 200817 yr You should be able to go straight from 24bit to DDS. You can pretty much convert anything to .. anything. Its just that you'll lose quality each time you convert :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 30, 200817 yr Author ok so convert all my textures to dds and then they are ready to fly?and i can use photoshop or DXTbmp for converting? Thanks also your tutorial helps with DXTbmpRichy David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
June 30, 200817 yr Photoshop will just save the files as raw bmps, you'll need to them convert them for FlightSim use with DXTBmp.Yep converting them to DDS (I believe FSX still as the support for converted 32bit and DXT3 but you may need to check on that) will mean you're all set to go. DDS however uses another channel for bump mapping so you may need to do it all through ImageTool. .. Have a go though :( ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 30, 200817 yr Author Thanks ive almost converted the files except the belly testures which is says theres an nvidia codec error.ah well im gonna get this workingThanks alotRichy David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
June 30, 200817 yr Author It shows up but things are umbled ( the DHL logo is on the belly, the belly is on the side etc.) and once its in ddx and i then save it to extended 32bit does it gain quality or do i need to reconvert it from scratch?ThanksRichy David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
June 30, 200817 yr Oops forgot to mention.. sorry! You need to flip the texture in DXTBmp(Image - Flip Image).I'd advise you started from scratch each time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
