Weather/Clouds problems

Featured Replies

I installed additional weather and cloud patterns that were available on Avsim, (author ??). When going to the Weather menu and selecting cirrus, I have a number of large white squares in the sky. I have no idea what files that are either missing or corrupted. Or possibly another problem. The textures that are there are great but it looks like a checkerboard. It only happens in the cirrus and maybe one other selection. Thanks for any feedback. Check out our group here in San Diego at www.simflite.com YT. fisheye

Hi, it's because you have installed a "overcast files hack from avsim" overcast.zipFilename: overcast.zip License: Freeware, limited distribution Added: 12th January 2004 Downloads: 2666 Author: John Cillis Size: 492kb You should reinstall the 16 bmp default cirrus from fs2004 cd.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Thanks Chris, that fixed my problem with the white squares in the sky. I also installed the FSW program and it is great. All of my clouds are now very realistic and enjoyable to watch. However I now have another problem that came up using the default flight within FSW. The stock learjet works great until I turn on the lights on the plane. The plane disappears and only shows the crew and lights until I turn the lights back off. I have included screenshots to show the effect. So far other planes don't have that problem. Thanks again for your reply. Yours truly, Norm Flowers (fisheye)visit us at www.simflite.com

Chris, it also shows up when I start a new flight. It may not be related to FSW but I just noticed it after the installation. I really appreciate your help in these situations since I don't completely understand how the depths of FS work.ThanksNorm

Hi Norm, These are related to fs2004 aircraft view and zooming, something when the view is too much reduced the body of the internal aircraft will appears from a type of view and angle, you can adjust the zoom by using the - or +, also in the fs2004 aircraft view setting, and you can enabledisable the panel by pressing shift-1 etc.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Chris,Thanks again for your reply. I don't think it has any thing to do with the zoom feature in FS. I didn't change locations in the pictures I attached to the last message. I think it has something to do with the lighting effects, possibly another add-on ?. I tested by turning off all lighting in the Lear 45, everything looks normal in outside views. I then turned on one light switch at a time until I had the problem with the planes body vanishing. (Landing Lights -OK), (Taxi Lights - OK), (Strobe Lights - body vanishes in sync with the strobe), (Recognition Lights - OK), (Panel Lights - plane vanishes until panel lights turned off). Only having problems so far with the default Lear 45 and repaints of same. Tried a fresh start with FS, tried reboot of computer, tried different flights, as far as I can tell the problem was discovered only after installng FSW and picking new runway lighting from the menu but not positive it is related. Wish I could be more certain. I probably would not have found the problem except I tried the FSW #1 flight selection in order to view the changes was flying the default Lear 45 over Milwaukee.Yours truly,NormPS I have been flying MSFlightSim since the BAO days of yore.

Thanks again Chris,Tried that but still have the problem. Plus I tried to change the "creat a flight" window to something other than the one in FSW but it still comes up as the default screen. Looked in my "flights" and was going to delete it but it was not there.?? Maybe I may have to reinstall FS.Norm

Hi, "Plus I tried to change the "creat a flight" "It will not works from what's you are doing, Select a flight from fs2004 and enable make as default flight, if you don't enable make as default flight, it will not works.Do not start again a situation from fs sky world 2004 or start a flight from fs sky world 2004 inst&run fs, it will be your default flight in fs2004 again. Please read in the pdf.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs

Chris, I am about to reinstall FS9, nothing works. I followed your instructions and have a new default flight and the plane still vanishes when I turn on the strobe lights or insturment panel lights. It must not be related to FSW or your fixes should have worked, unless it has something to do with the new runway lighting I chose from the menu in FSW. Thanks for all of your help anyway,Norm

Hi, before re-installing fs2004 only restore default fs2004 runways light, I don't know which type of video cards you have..The default fs2004 runways light is the halo.bmp in cd 2 MSGAME3.CAB copy in fs2004textureThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs
