If I am not mistaken there is a function inside FSWC that lets you reset your water settings back to the default FSX. Then you could start again from scratch.

Same thing happens with Megascenery California North, Central, South. Especially in Los Angeles. I hope someone has a fix. It looks like the default scenery with the lights is covered up with Megascenery. As I fly by and look back I can see some of the tiles starting to light up behind me. fisheye

Andrew; My experience shows me that what ever is active in FSX when you start the program tends take longer to load the first time it is started after a re-boot. The second time it is loaded it takes less time because the program stores a lot in cache. This is also why others have been so strong on using SSD drives because of their faster access time in loading FSX and accessing files during flight. The smaller the active files in the program are trimmed the faster it loads and also the bulk to access during the running of the program is reduced. If you deactivate aircraft then the start time for FSX should improve however my experience shows that it does not improve frame rates unless you have a lot of AI which will slow things down. However Scenery is a different matter. Deactivating a substantial amount of unused scenery in a profile will free up the amount of data that FSX has to keep track of. This does increase the efficiency and smoothness in the flight. The side effects that I experienced with smoother, a little higher FPS and sharper visuals were not documented by the developer and he says that the program was not designed with this in mind. My personal thoughts after trying to discover the reason for this positive experience was to look into the fsx.cfg file and see if there was any difference to my original file. Since SimStarter does not over wright any of the FSX configuration files inside the original installation because it copies those files that you make changes to and saves them inside each profile so each one is different from the other. What it did do to my original fsx.cfs was to clean up the order for the lines of code and move all files above the "trusted" entries and eliminate all spaces, and changed some of the font sizes. This may have been the reason that caused my sim to run better but I have not gone back and tested this outside of SimStarter yet. But the effect is noticed even outside of Simstarter just running FSX the normal way. Anyway it works for me and I just wanted the community to know what I experienced and make up their own minds. Most questions about how the program should improve your FSX performance would be better asked of the developer "pero" whose email address is in my previous posts in this section. But I think you are on the right track. I also think the initial reason for the design of the program was to make configuration for specific flight parameters easier and only have to be done once inside SimStarter instead of each time we fly having to configure again however the program is growing with abilities with every upgrade. The side effects I personally have seen on my system is smoother flights, slightly higher frame rates and very much improved sharpness in my scenery visuals especially with photoscenery from Megascenery. Each persons preferences, system specs. and add-ons installed will affect how this program is perceived to benefit them. It is best to download, install, learn and determine for yourself the benefits you see on your system. The only thing you can loose is time. Anyone can speak generally to questions you have but unless you test it yourself you will never know for sure if it works for you or not. Had I not seen benefits on my system I would never had posted my conclusions here for everyone to question. It is like everything else in life, don't take anyone else's experiences as truth, live only your own. fisheye PS. Fortunately it is not another add-on since it runs outside of FSX, P3D, DX10 before starting the Sim with pre configured flights and situations of your choice. Helped my situation ironically.

You might want take a look at this forum page that has my suggestion to watch a video just posted to see if this might be a solution for your issues. It fixed quite a number on my system because of being able to pick and choose which tweaks, scenery, aircraft, and add-ons that I wanted to run with each situation or flight. Contrary to what others have said in this posting it does not over wright your existing FSX files. It copies them into each new situation you build so you can change parameters without disturbing the original files in FSX. Scroll down to "fisheye" entry with the video link on YouTube. Hope this helps you as much as it did for me. I am not sure if I explained myself clearly on the flight creation problem. see posting 26 Feb. My default flight was set at; situation=C:\Users\Norm\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\Aspen Super Cub Parked The new flight for Profile 2 is set at; SITUATION=C:\Users\Norm\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files\KMYF TBM 850 to KPSP.flt, should the prefix .flt be on this line? These now both show up in the fsx.cfg and when starting the profile 2 it goes to the first one in the line which is the default flight that was set before Simstarter. Should it have also removed my default flight situation.. Also it keeps coming up with an error for my Bufferpools=1 setting asking to set it again at the same setting every time I change menu's. I don't know if this could be the problem or not but I just got an Important notice from AVG Antivirus that all Lenovo computers were shipped from the factory with a Superfish virus installed and I think the v50 was on the list. http://www.avg.com/campaign-landing-pages/gb-en/lenovo-superfish I would look this up on the AVG site and make sure if it is true and then go from there. I am running the Steam version of FSX-SE parallel with the original box version and everything runs perfectly except that I get notices on startup to agree to run several programs every time I start FSX-SE. I know it can be changed in the XML files but I have not taken the time to do it yet. If you can't get this fixed then I would reinstall Steam FSX-SE after removing the virus if it is there. I have not heard of this problem before.

pero; Here is my latest log book on changes that I have been trying to make that don't seem to translate into FSX. I keep getting a pop up message that there is an error setting Buffer pools=1 and it has to be done again when opening simstarter. I also keep trying to get the default flight to change but it only adds an additional line into the fsx.cfg as mentioned above. Can you tell what I am doing wrong? paro; I have been working on this program for the last two hours without success in creating a Profile 2 "low and slow" with a saved flight. I checked my fsx.cfg after the last of many attempts and found two entries for the "situation" heading. Did I do something wrong? pero, I am sure that it is just a side effect on my system but I am still pleased from the effect it has on my sim. Maybe just manually moving the "trusted files" to the bottom of the fsx.cfg would have worked just the same but whatever caused it I am pleased. Now for that video on how to configure the simstarter program would be a great help for those of us with over 20 years flying FSX from BAO days onward would benefit from the tutorial. I am getting easily confused lately since I passed the 75 year mark. Thanks again for building such a in depth program as I am sure once I master its functions will be of great use. fisheye

I just downloaded the latest version and am still trying to understand how to make a profile from an existing saved flight. Not having much luck but I did discover something very important to me. That was when saving the fsx.cfg to the main profile while trying to understand the program, I found that all my scenery all suddenly started looking sharper even using photoscenery from Megascenery. I checked the status of the fsx.cfg for changes and noticed that all of the "trusted files" were moved to the bottom of the page with the only thing below it was the Multiplayer text. If this is the only thing that was changed then that is a revolution for all of those complaining about blurry scenery. I just wish there was a YouTube video that shows the step by step method of setting up a profile from an existing flight. Maybe someone will get around to it to help this old guy understand better. Thanks for the program I can see its potential but just the fact that my blurry scenery is now fixed would be enough for me right now. Norm

Rob, Thanks again for trying to help and obviously there is something wrong in my system. I click on the Post Options link you circled and I get the menu on the right side of the text box but nothing below that gives me any upload options. The only thing below the text box is the buttons that say, Add Reply, Preview Post, or Cancel. For some reason I don't get what you show on your screen in the picture you sent. I will have to dig into this to find out what is going on and this is even in Google Chrome right now. PS when I click on the Post Options it brings up theis other window that is new and I can not see the original posts from others. fisheye

Rob; I tried using google chrome on this reply plus turning off my firewall and antivirus. Nothing seems to help because the only thing that happens is that the image dialog box doesn't freeze and I am able to close it but it doesn't work other than that for uploading an image. I am at a loss right now. There must be something easy that I am missing and that is not out of the realm of possibilities at my age of 76. Thanks again for trying to help. I even tried the BBCode Mode, Unformat plus Special BBCode to no avail. Is the Image button the only thing you use to upload an image? Rob; No Joy; on the "more options" I get three choices, Enable emoticons, Enable signature, and Follow this topic. When I click the Image button on the task bar it freezes no mater what I type in to the text area. I tried "My Media" button but that wants pictures I have uploaded to Avsim. Rob, I still can not find a way to upload an image or jpg to my replies. I click on the Image button in the toolbar but all it does is come up and freeze. It won't even let me close the popup so I have to do a refresh to clear the popup. What am I not doing right? The IRIS C-27 is now called the "Battlefield Airlifter" must have been a copyright problem using the Spartan name. I have it and it flies great. I used the Coast Guard livery and flew at 300 ft. along the San Diego Coastline just off shore looking for surfers that were in trouble. IRIS Simulation Software I would like to let everyone know that had sent in an email to Iris about not having a link for updates to my aircraft unless I purchased them again. You need to change a camera view in your camera.cfg file. Make the Locked Spot into a Fixed Spot by following this example. However before making any changes backup your original camera.cfg in case you don't want the change later. I am trying to figure out how to copy and paste into this reply but as yet have not found a way.
