Anyone flying with ATI 9700(pro)? How is it?

Featured Replies

Mark,The 9700 performs admirably. Fairly recently, I coupled it with an ASUS A7N8X motherboard, 512 MB of PC2100 (old), and an AMD XP2000+. With all of the built-in components on the MB (including sound and two NICs), my older 300W power supply handles them without hiccup. I am running the latest official drivers from ATI (6.14.01.6255) and remain impressed with it

I've done alot of recent research on the 9700 PRO because I was thinking about upgrading to the GeForce FX when it comes out. The information that I found (and believe me, there was a TON of it) convinced me to reconsider going to the FX and lean toward going with the 9700 PRO. Regarding the GeForce Ti4600, the PRO is a better card, hands down. The only thing you might want to do is wait a month or so until the Radeon 350 chip hits the market. It is ATI's next generation chip after the PRO.Mark

I just exchanged the Nvidia TI-4600 in my new (45 days old) pc for a Hercules/ATI 9700 Pro. There is just absolutely no comparison. The ATI card is much faster and the image quality is far, far superior. The TI-4600 was a serious disappointment when running FS2002, although it was fine for everything else. For me, FS2002 is my highest priority.

Running a Connect3D Radeon 9700 Pro here. FS2002 never looked this good, 4x AA/16X AF at 1280x960.
