February 9, 200323 yr Hi,When flying I can see the terrain textures near the aircraft updating to a higher resolution version. Is there a way to load faster or update earlier, so I can't notice the textures changes ??Atlhon XP2000+, 512mb Crucial RAM, 7200rpm Seagate HD, GF4ti4200 128mb.Thanks,Ulisses
February 9, 200323 yr Hi Ulisses,Your specs look good. The only thing I can suggest is you go to Settings=>Scenery=>Maximum Visibility, and set this slider all the way up. Your FS will be looking far ahead into the scenery but you will pay a price in frame rates. Play with all the settings until you get a good balance.
February 9, 200323 yr Hi Ulisses,One thing I have noted while using the East and SE England VFR Photographic scenery is loading times improve significantly if you uncheck Extended Textures in the Display Options page. If you are flying slow and low, say 2000-5000ft, you won't really miss seeing the extended textures in the distance. This will be particularly relevant if you use FSUIPC weather and visibility settings and set tha max visibility in the sim to 60 miles. I'm not sure whether this also improves high res texture updating in the immediate vicinity of your a/c. Might be worth trying to see what effect this has.Mike :-wave
February 10, 200323 yr Commercial Member Not sure (because I didn't really see a difference myself), but I also heard that locking the framerates will improve the texture loading. In principle this would leave more CPU power for others things then drawing the screen and should enable you to load them faster.ArnoMember Netherlands 2000 Scenery Team[link:home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen]Arno's FlightSim World for scenery design hints, tips and other tricks...
