February 10, 200323 yr I have never had this before in my system....after about ten or fifteen minutes of usage, I lose my mouse, totally...I have to reboot.Could this be a virus?I am very careful regarding such, with protection and updates. Does anybody quickly know if there is such a virus that does this? Thanks in advance for any replies....Mitch R>
February 10, 200323 yr Anything is possible. I would first unplug your mouse and clean the inside and hook it back up to the computer and see if that solves the problem. The second thing I would look at is the possiblity of reinstalling the mouse driver to get it back working. As for anything is possible, get this! my virus scan for some reason crashes for no apparent reason. I have Norton 2002 and I have purchased Norton 2003 and Firewall so I hope this will solve my problems.
February 10, 200323 yr I run the MS optical mouse...and have reinstalled.Hmmm...I just ran a complete scan, and no viruses reported or earmarked.Again...hmmmm...Thanks..., The LAST think I want to do...and yes..they (MS) do recommend it..is to reinstall 98SE every three to four months.I'd rather down a whole bottle of Buckley's....know what I mean?Cheers!Mitch R.
February 10, 200323 yr Optical mouse......... wireless? If so, maybe you need to check the battery? I haven't heard of any such virus that affects the mouse, but as was pointed out -- anything can happen.-Lindy :-wave

February 11, 200323 yr Author Is it a USB mouse? If so it could be a driver problem. I have heard of people having similar problems. If it is USB (and ONLY if it is) try unplugging and reconnecting it. Check to make sure you have updated drivers for the motherboard as well. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
