Some questions before purchasing

Featured Replies

Hi team,VOX ATC looks very interesting to me, but before I am going to buy it I would like to ask some questions :Does VOX ATC interact with the wind directions ? It is difficult to make sids/stars for your flightplan if you do not know the wind direction ( I am using online weather with AS6 ). Can you add atc chatter ?Can you let AI traffic run and hear the default ATC and AI aircraft ? Thanks,

Hi Gerard,>Does VOX ATC interact with the wind directions ?YES>It is difficult to make sids/stars for your flightplan if you>do not know the wind direction ( I am using online weather>with AS6 ). You should select SIDs/STARs based on direction of departure and direction of arrival, for departures you will select a single waypoint from your flight plan and can set ATC to give altitude instructions, for arrivals you will have an initial fix and final fix afterwards you will be directed to land on whichever runways prevailing winds are favoring.>Can you add atc chatter ?What do you mean by adding ATC chatter?>Can you let AI traffic run and hear the default ATC and AI>aircraft ? First part YES, if you running a fast processor you can have some AI traffic running although I don't recommend very high settings as it will put a strong demand on the processor. Second part NO, I don't recommend running the default ATC sound as you will get sounds running over each other and it will be very annoying... plus another hit on the processor.Download and try out the demo as using it will answer pretty much any and all your questions.Hope this helps,Zane

Hi Zane,Thanks for the answers. This confuses me :"You should select SIDs/STARs based on direction of departure and direction of arrival, for departures you will select a single waypoint from your flight plan and can set ATC to give altitude instructions, for arrivals you will have an initial fix and final fix afterwards you will be directed to land on whichever runways prevailing winds are favoring." ? ? ? Does this mean that I have to include multiple sids/stars ?In the online manuel it says that I have to define one sid/star before starting the flight.I have a b747 cockpit here and use PM software. Therefor I have to include the sid/star atc is telling me. By ATC chatter I mean atc chatter downloaded from the IN.I live in Europe and it would be nice to hear european controllers /pilots chatter. Thanks for helping.

Hi Gerard,I'll try to answer this in a way that makes sense...>"You should select SIDs/STARs based on direction of departure>and direction of arrival, for departures you will select a>single waypoint from your flight plan and can set ATC to give>altitude instructions, for arrivals you will have an initial>fix and final fix afterwards you will be directed to land on>whichever runways prevailing winds are favoring."True some airports have a large number of SIDs/STARs and they are somewhat specific to one landing runway so you will be guided into that FAF (final approach fix). If you are using ASV or FSMeteo you can get a weather report for your final destination (which may change if using realtime weather). If you are using default weather you can go to the destination airport and listen to default ATIS (turn ATC sound on) for current runway assignments that MSFS would use (which unfortunately may differ from VoxATC's choice). For airports with just a few SIDs/STARs you will notice that they are more designed to accomodate where you are going or coming from hence the earlier comment, you will be fed to a common point from which you can continue the approach to whichever landing runway assigned by the program. Remember that you can also request a landing runway from the options menu and depending on prevailing winds you should be able to get it. Experiment a bit with the demo and you will see what I mean.>Does this mean that I have to include multiple sids/stars ?>In the online manuel it says that I have to define one>sid/star before starting the flight. No, you will only assign one SID/STAR for a given saved situation and flight plan>I have a b747 cockpit here and use PM software. Therefor I>have to include the sid/star atc is telling me. Should work as long as the initial and final waypoints match.>By ATC chatter I mean atc chatter downloaded from the IN.>I live in Europe and it would be nice to hear european>controllers /pilots chatter. If this is something that you can just have playing in the background and doesn't require having the default ATC sound turned on it should work. I haven't tried that.Hope this helps and you're welcome ;)Zane
