January 3, 200719 yr Hi all :-)Notice this oddity flying around Canada, using ScanAfd I have two afcad files for some airports ie:AF2 / F1UT, I was wondering in this could be the cause..?(UT Canada terrain in use in FS9)thanks for any advice,Steve :-)
January 3, 200719 yr I don't know what your problem is, but scanafd is a useful tool IF you analyze what the tool finds, and don't just assume it is showing a problem. The function of AFCAD is to read the default (called stock in AFCAD) airport data, and replace some or most of it with a new file. Having 2 files built with AFCAD can be problematic, because they both assume they are replacing the stock airport, and are unaware of the changes made in any other file. In some casses this will be OK, for example if you replace the default runways in both of the addon files , the one with the highest scenery priority will be used and the other one ignored. However, there are parts of airports which AFCAD cannot modify. These must be done with a different program or by hand edit. These items are:1. taxisigns (visual scenery)2. approaches (used by ATC and the GPS)3. terminal waypoints (used by ATC, GPS, map, and flight planner)The way the BGLCOMP compiler works (the only tool we have other than AFCAD for compiling airport scenery in FS9 format) is that it requires the airport data entry in order to compile these items. This data is seen by scanafd, even though AFCAD can't do anything with the file, and the file has no effect on AFCAD.Note also that FS9 will still allow airport visual scenery built with tools from earlier versions to be used. When this scenery is present FS9 will surpress the visual display of AFCAD or other FS9-style scenery, regardless of priority. This earlier scenery is actually widely used in addons for technical reasons. The AFCAD is still needed, but only for providing the taxi and parking data for the AI aircraft and ATC.scott s..
January 4, 200719 yr Author Hi Scott :-)An update which may be of help to other simmers, I found out that this 'floating light' problem was due to having 'Enhanced Night Lighting' checked in UT Canada display panel options.thanks for your time anyways, much appreciated.Steve
