KJFK issue

Featured Replies

Hi All, I've just recently downloaded the kjfkv5.zip file for the KJFK airport, and am noticing a small issue (well, major if your in anything larger then a baron). I typically fly a Dash 8 based aircraft out of this airport, I'm using FSPassengers and that's currently all I am qualified to fly. I start at stand #223 and begin my taxi procedures and such from there. When I receive clearance for my IFR flight, and 31L is one of the active runways, I am normally directed to this runway. The issue is that I am directed to taxi via P PA, this in fact leads me to the opposing end of the runway such that I only have maybe 600 feet or so of take off room. It does NOT lead me to the other end of the runway where I am supposed to start at :> Is anyone else having this same issue?

Have you checked the AFCAD for that scenery. Maybe some disconnected taxiways ?Peter

How do you know 31L is active? Do you use progressive taxi? I just did a lot of work on the KJFK Afcad and will see what's up later, but somehow, what you're describing, makes no sense.Note that it's a crosswind afcad, so even though it may look like the 31s are active, the 13s may be used, depending on what the deciding runways are (the 4/22s for example).

I will give it another shot today and see if I can get you a screenshot/video to show you what I mean.

Well, I checked it out and everything works for me as it is supposed to. If you want to have a look, here's the Afcad I use. Make sure it's in KJFK's scenery folder and that all other JFK Afcads are disabled!

Hi Guys, I have not tried it yet with that BGL file posted above, but here is what I see when I run it with the file that came with the zip file available via avsim (please note these are videos, so they are a bit large - which is why I am posting where you can download them):1. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/Requesting%20T...20Clearance.zip2. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/Starting%20to%20Taxi.zip3. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/A%20little%20f...axi%20-%201.zip4. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/A%20little%20f...axi%20-%202.zip5. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/A%20little%20f...axi%20-%203.zip6. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/Ready%20at%20runway%2031L.zip7. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/Preparing%20for%20takeoff.zip8. http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/Taking%20off%2...20extension.zipThis is the BGL file that was distributed with the file:http://www.dreadnet.org/fs9/AF2_KJFK_FRFara.bglThe order I posted the videos in, is the order that they should be watched, the first one is requesting taxi to IFR (which takes me to 31L). The next ones are taxiing to runway 31L with progressive on, and then 6, 7, 8 are me preparing to take off, so the first video and later 3 are really the only important ones.

Well, all I needed was a quick look at the Afcad. There are a lot of runway links (black lines) that are either mislabelled or not labelled at all. Fix all of them and you should see normal behavior.Fault Finder in Afcad (or AFX) will find these errors by the way.You might as well just try my Afcad though, it fixes these and various other things. Apart from runway links, taxiway links are also hardly labelled. So instead of hearing clear taxi instructions, you'll probably only hear the generic "taxiway".
