AP APPR mode

Featured Replies

My question has to do with the AP on the Beech B1900D, both by PMDG and PAD models. On setting the NAV radios to the ILS freq. and initializing the APPR button on the AP, the aircraft captures the ILS heading without any problem. Now the question is: Should the APPR mode also maintain the GS path? I'm seeing both aircraft fall below the GS and not maintaining it. Or am I to disconnect the ALT and manually hold the GS?Thanks for any help.Jim D.

Hi,The PMDG B1900D uses the default FS Autopilot and as far as I know the APPR mode should both capture LOC and G/S and disconnect ALT hold. However make sure you approach the G/S from below.

Thanks for the response but I see that the problem was my not waiting long enough for the GS to take effect. This time it worked, although at about 500' the aircraft dirfted below the GS. I guess that's when I should take over and cancel the AP and hand fly her in.Jim D.

As a trick to help out the autopilot start down the slope, at the apropriate time back off on throttle a scosh or drop the gear, if they aren't already down.Best Regards, Donald T.:-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.
