Md11 Star Selection

Featured Replies

How can you add an approach via the FMS when the STAR is already in use?For example...You are in flight and have a route and STAR selected, but you do not know which runway is in use yet so you do not select an ILS. You start a descent and shortly pick up the ATIS advising which runway is in use. How can you add an approach, without entering the STAR all over again?Regards,Martin Neep

Without trying it, you should be able to press a LSB next to any fix before destination to bring up LAT REV page, select STAR then select approach. After inserting the approach you can either select the approach transition or return to flight plan. In general, the approach, STAR and STAR Transition are selected in that order and that is why I am not 100% sure but give it a try.If you are using a STAR that connects to the approach, you may have to re-select the star and transition again... the FMS code is friendly in that it will usually figure out how to insert a revise route without ending up with "overlapping" routes that require editing. Of course, you can even change star or approach while enroute. I think the only constraint is you cannot change a route segment that is currently being flown.
