Isdt Atr

HelloI fancied a bit of a change from the heavies so thought i would try the ISDT ATR 72-212 MODEL it was a fine looker (American express livery)but it was a horrible flier.I am a fairly proficient simmer (not beginner)so i had the correct loads correct fuel etc.I found that it would not hold cruise altitude without a horrible nose up attitude,I tried with auto throttle set at the ATR cruise position,Autopilot on...nose up.I tried with AP off and manually using the throttles....no change even with the torque settings rising to something horrible the plane would only fly nose up.Anyone else tried these ATRs?there was only one 72-212 model by the way so perhaps the other models are better.cheers Andy

What altitude are you trying to fly at ?The ATR does not have autothrottle !!! It does have a power management system whereby you put the throttle into a "notch" detente and use the power managent knob to select climb or cruise. But no auto-throttle : you should achieve about 270-280 KIAS at around 19,000 feet.I use the ATR payware from Flight1, and am very impressed with it, but have no knowlege of the a/c you are using.

Andy,Not sure about their 72, but this is what I found on their 42, which was doing about the same as to what you are complaining about. On the ATR's, the cargo area is in the front of the a/c ( infront of the pax, behind the cocokpit), but in the aircraft cfg the cargo was placed at -40 feet from the c/g, towards the back. I changed the number to be between the crew and the pax, and then the a/c flew wonderfully, even on autopilot.Following is a copy of the email I sent them. They responded by saying they would look into it, but never heard anything since:"Having just flown this a/c a few times, but have flown the F1 ATR72, I, like many, have found this a/c tail heavy and hard to trim, especially when under autopilot control.I noticed something in the aircraft.cfg and would like to ask about it. On this a/c, the cargo is carried upfront, but in the cfg the number is a -40,0,0. This puts it way at the rear of the a/c. As a test, I made it a +25, which puts it somewhere between the front passengers and the crew. The a/c flys real stable now, and you are able to trim it easily. Also now, when the flaps are applied, the a/c doesn't nose up, and only a few clicks of trim are required to drop the nose again.I know the 72-500 has a small rear cargo area, but was the cargo area in the 42-500 meant to be in the front (where it is in r/l), or meant to be in the rear? I hope it was meant to be in the front, as this makes the 42-500 fly sweet.I hope this helps!!Rick

Hello RickI may try to your tip if I can find the relevant bit in the CFG.cheers AndyI rather like the ATR Good freeware panel(needs a little working out)nice prop animation, and good sound(doesn't sound like an electric lawnmower....lawnmower sounds are definitely a no no for me)cheers Andy

HelloI have just downloaded there 72/500 base model and have given it a short cruise test, the model came with almost full payload and fuel weight and seems to cruise correctly not giving the appearance of a plane about to stall(as the 212 version did)Will try a flt tonight.
