December 7, 200817 yr Yes and yes. You can use Sbuilder (freeware) to remove the airport polygons (that's what the grassy areas are called) and/or create new ones. The documentation that comes with the program is pretty good...be sure to read it. :( If you haven't worked with a program like this before the initial learning curve can be a bit steep, but it's well worth it. The program lets you make a bunch of different modifications to your terrain.
December 9, 200817 yr Youj didn't indicate which FS version. For FSX you could also use Airport Design Editor (ADE). In FSX typically a single polygon is used to surround the airport area. This polygon is an airport background with three attributes :1. flatten -- causes entire airport to be at a single altitude2. exclude autogen -- prevents any autogen from being generated3. mask class map -- substitutes a texture based on the underlying landclass value. In most cases this will be grass but not always.FS9 works about the same but a second polygon is required for the flatten. The main one just does the autogen exclusion and texture bitmap change. FS9 provides more control over the specific bitmap used.scott s..
