Landing As Per Pd

Goodday,I have following question: I'm flying the PMDG 737 with FMC.When I'm on cruise altitude and get my 1st descent clearance from RC, I have the choice/option to ask and follow my descent as per PD (3)(manual page 48) but I want to follow my descent as per FMC. But always RC denied my request and gives me new altitude clearance, or gives mepermission and give me still new altitude clearance. :( Is there a logic or do I something forgotten. :( (I do the talking by myself)Thanks for replying.

if you choose the 3-pd option, you can start your descent whenever you want. once you start your descent, though, all other altitude clearances will be by atc.remember, in the real world, the controllers are in charge, not the fmc. the fmc can't see the big picture. the controllers can and do, and make their decisions based on the big picture.are you trying to fly a profile descent?jd

If you have selected NOTAMS for the destination airport during the preflight setup for RC4, once you are in approach airspace ATC will give you a caution about obstacle clearance. Altitudes will still be announced prefaced by "if able" and you can control your own descent above or below the assigned altitudes. NOTAMS is only available in departure and approach airspace. In enroute airspace you can request other altitudes when they are issued.

LionAir I usually find that if you do NOT get a PD descent,you can adopt a slow ROD of say 500 feet per minute.You will evntaully catch up with your FMC profile.If you do get the PD approved you should be OK or have I missed something

i think the only time you don't get a "3-PD" is if the rc co-pilot has the comms, or your already in the lower stratumjd

That's how it works for me JD.If the co-pilot has the coms you got to do what the man says.If the "pilot flying" has the coms you can ask for a PD.You don't always get one but if you do you can follow your FMC.AS JD says if you are in a lower block of air space the instructions are different.NOTAM check box ticking is advisable if you are going into hilly terrain airports.Otherwise ATC will shout at you if you don't do what they ask.Try Geneva STAR approaches from the south or Innsbruck from any direction to see what happens.
