December 22, 200817 yr HiPlease have a look at attchment. I have 4GB installed on vista 64 bit, why is physical memory says 51 % but free ram says 14MB only? why this difference?krishan Gigabyte EP45-DS4 (F9) E8500 running at 4.1GHz 4G Dominator 1066 running at 1032MHz 898MB XFX 260GTX Vista 64-bit on VolictyRaptor 250GB KIS operating 1440 X 900
December 22, 200817 yr The amount under Cached (looks like around 2 GB in your picture) isn't counted as "allocated" memory as the OS will drop cached pages to free up memory when needed for other purposes (Vista does a lot more "smart caching" than XP did, and attempts to make your memory work for you as much as possible :-> ).Tim Tim http://fsandm.wordpress.com
December 22, 200817 yr This is good article explaining how Vista allocates memory: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000688.html.Vista uses memory very differently to WinXP and is much more efficient.RegardsPeterH
