Voxatc Voice Setup

Recommended Posts

Hi all, wonder if someone can advise - I've just installed the demo version of VOXATC UK, and have set up the speech recognition successfully. I'm now flying the vfr flight from Plymouth to Kemble, and have a problem - ATC is recognising my voice, but I can't hear their voice at all. I can hear background noise and clicking when I key the mike, and I can also hear my own voice through the phones when I speak, so I know the sound is working. In Voice Set up, I've selected Mike for both male and female voice, but again I do not hear anything when clicking on the 'speak button' - is this simply because I have the demo version installed? I fear I may be doing something wrong here but I can't figure out what! If anyone can advise I'd be very grateful,Many thanks,Tim

I would revisit your windows control panel and run the speech program. Click on the text to speech tab and click the preview voice button. You should hear the voice listed in the selection box. If you do there must be an issue with the VoxATC program. If you do not hear the voice click the audio output button. Make sure your headset sound device is selected. Click the volume button and check that the wave output slider is not muted or at zero. You must be able to hear the voices here as VoxATC requires the MS SAPI speech engine to render audio from the VoxATC text routines. Hope this helps.

Hello there and many thanks indeed for your prompt reply, I've rechecked the items you mentioned as follows:

I would revisit your windows control panel and run the speech program. Click on the text to speech tab and click the preview voice button. You should hear the voice listed in the selection box.
I do indeed, Microsoft Mike selected, the audio preview comes through fine on the headphones. "You have selected Microsoft Mike as the computer's default voice".
The correct soundcard is selected here. The volume is set to medium and is not muted. The problem arises when trying to run the voice setup within VoxATC - the voice preview doesn't work, and no voice is heard in FS when the program is running. I'm puzzled! Thank you again for your help, it's gratefully received,Regards,Tim

That's very odd. I assume you have installed Net Framework 2.0 or higher. I would also recommend contacting VoxATC thru their webpage contact form. They might be able to help and they normally respond promptly. Good luck. Be sure to update this thread if you get a solution. Happy new year!
